1984 v 65 mag
This bike has been sitting since 1986 . I have not tried to start. I figure to drain all fluids flush..Pull plugs and spray in w d 40 set a day then put in new fluids . Does this sound like a proper beginning to get it running .
When parked it ran perfectly.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I think you're on the right path. I'm not sure I'd want to try and fire it right up after that kind of a sleep though. I'm no expert on the V65, but I'd want to make sure I rolled the engine over a few times manually, or very slowly at least to ensure there was oil everywhere there needed to be. Aside from that, you sound like you're in good shape. Also, one last thing I'd be checking is the fuel tank and filter to make sure there wasn't a ton of junk in it.

you'd almost be better off to unhook the gas line coming in and see if it will fire with starting fluid first. but definitely better to get everything coated in oil before you attempt to start it. I would also probably remove the carbs and clean them up, its very unlikely that they didn't have fuel in them when the bike was parked and EVERYTHING is probably gummed up...
