06 CRV rear differential issues?
I got a 06 CRV AWD with 26,000 miles on it. Everything hsa been perfect with it unitl tody. When you make a hard left turn the driver side rear wheel is acting like it is in a bind. Can feel rear tire kind of skipping a little.
Makes some weird noise kind of like if you let off brakes real slow on a hill? I am taking it in to dealership tomorrow. Has anyone one else had tis issue?

Typical issue w/ the differentials. The rear diff/dual pump fluid is contaminated and needs to be replaced. They should replace the fluid under S/B 07-024. This will take care of the issue. Mention the S/B to the advisor so they dont try and sell it.

My question is what kind of long term wear did this cause? They replaced the fluid, and burnished the clutches I guess cause it took them almost 2 hours. I am saving invoice in case it gives me any more trouble. This is my wifes car and she likes, and probably will hold on to it for a long time. I can just see it having trouble right when warranty ends.

i had to have mine done also. i rode around for like 3 months thinking it was the tire making the noise. rotated them, still did it. found out it was the rear dif fluid was bad already, only had about 18k on an 07. honda replaced the fluid no charge for anything, they didnt even question it. been fine ever since they changed it.

I wouldnt be too concerned as long as it sounds good now. Just make sure you get it service more regular (we service every 15k-20k) because we see a lot of them make noise around 18k-25k miles. Obviously if you can service it before it makes noise then it is better for the longevity of it. We have not replaced any real time rear diffs since I have been here in 2 years, and we have seen some bad ones!
I personally had a 1st gen that I bought used with 89k on it, and it was really bad. I had to change it several times to get it to go 98% away.

In a Junkyard near you.
I swore my crv needed a new one when i bought it (99 EX) but I changed the fluid twice and its been fine ever since. It's even been out on the beach several times with no issues. Never gotten it stuck!

Re: (Captain Evil Monkey)
its pretty normal due to he brake down of the dual pump fluid. i say just bring it the dealer and have them do it under warranty. to change the fluid we normally get paid .5 of an hour under warranty its 1.1 hours and honda pays for it BONUS

Re: (dtorreskater)
q:
how much does it cost to get this fix?
is this an issue on all CRV, cause I'm thinking about getting a 2006 CRV?
Also if it was that bad was there a recal on this model?

-You can do it yourself for about $20. Should cost about $80 at a dealer.
-It's a maintenance issue on every AWD Honda 1997+.
-It's a maintenance issue so Honda will never have a recall on it. It's just due to the breaking down of the fluid due to driving habits. Change the fluid every 30K miles if you drive a lot on the highways. Change it every 15K miles if you drive a lot in the city (lots of turns/ u-turns).

05 CRV rear differential issues?
I have an '05 CRV and there's a low rumbling sound in the rear end during sharp turns. Is this the same problem? Should I replace the dual pump fluid in my rear diff to fix this? Can I do this myself, or should it be done by Honda? I'm out of warranty.
Thanks in advance.
Chris

yes, changing the fluid will solve your problem. same thing happened to my mom's '02 crv. we took it to the dealer and they said the diff. fluid was bad. ever since that was changed, the problem has gone away.
