Thanks for responding. When my son comes over to look at it again, we'll look at the things you mentioned. We did find a number of rodent droppings, and from reading on a number of forums - it's a common problem for rodents to chew through the wiring to the knock sensor, causing those caution lights. I wonder if there's a wire to the a/c? Thanks again, gives us more to look for and rule out.

ya the guy at autozone is a moron, my uncle took it there, maybe they had difficult language barrier, dude said he codes was found when there was a check engine light on....
reason i though it was coilpack was because
1: we changed sparkplugs all new
2: engine check light was flashing when i rev the motor, so that indicate it was misfire.

Don't know if this will help anyone but, had the same issue with my 2005 Honda Pilot. Code said EGR issue and VTM4 light also on. After SEVERAL visits to a Honda Dealership (and 2 EGR Valves and a plenum Gasket) I finally brought it to a recommended local garage where he BLEW OUT THE EGR PORTS at NO CHARGE because I had him do brakes and oil change, the problem was fixed. He said Honda only does what the computer tells them and sells you parts and service but an experienced mechanic in the real world knows this issue by trade experience. HONDA SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS ALSO!!!!!

hello, my uncle just brough a pilot, it runs and drives but its hestate little bit, i believe 1 or 2 cylinder is misfire due to egr?
so i went to start the engine today:
turn key on ll, vtm-4 flashes and goes off
start the engine, no lights,
then rev to 3000 rpm, vtm-4 light comes on, pretty sure its misfire.
from all research i did on google, everyone having problem with EGR or idle speed sensor.
anyone have this problem with their pilot? suppose to be common issue.
ill get code from autozone tomorrow, i work all day today.
thanks for any help in advance.!
