OK, what do a lot of us honda people do?? Bigger motor, boost, itb's. Why doesnt honda instead of giving us a mugen edition with the same motor, just put something like the k20 in. Just dont understand, maybe theyre makin lore money in the aftermarket, but for any guy trhat really works you cant just go spen spend spend.

Secondly this car was designed to be a hybrid from the jump so a K20, while promising, would not be the main powerplant for this vehicle (no doubt it will fit)
Lastly Honda is conservative and they have chosen to focus on the green consumers. While it sucks for those of us who want a 220+hp CRZ type product from Honda the truth is the overwhelming majority of Honda guys BUILD those types of vehicles rather than pay the premium such a car would demand if Honda or Mugen were to actually build it for sale.
Case in Point the $50K track Mugen Civic in japan sold out in minutes -- but would never even be offered for sale here knowing few if any takers would be in this market.
Honda North America is reluctant to bring anything non "mainstream" because it doesnt want to take a bath if they dont sell. Acura is more likely to bring a "Type R" more than Honda NA...sad but thats the way it is.

Looks more like Fuji Heavy is posting a profit with Nissans help while Subaru as a brand posted a heavy loss in this fiscal year.
If they cut back enough (which is the plan) they may turn a profit by the end of this fiscal year in March of 2010 but that is still a ways off.
"The profit forecast released today is 75 percent below an earlier estimate of 4 billion yen issued at the end of the 1991 fiscal year. Fuji Heavy has not paid a shareholder dividend since 1990 and said it would not issue a dividend for the half-year or the full year.
"I still think there's a great deal of disappointment possible here," Mr. Usher said.
At the operating level, Fuji Heavy's profit was 3.35 billion yen, up from 224 million yen last year. Most of the profit increase, however, seems to reflect help from Nissan rather than an increase in the company's general business, Mr. Usher said."
From Jan 09
Fuji Heavy CEO Ikuo Mori said today he now expects a 9 billion yen ($89.1 million) operating loss for the fiscal year ending March 31. The revision erases an earlier forecast for operating profit of $227.7 million.
Mori now aims to slash capital expenditures more than 20 percent, cut executive pay 10 percent and eliminate board member bonuses. He also scrapped a plan to build a factory in Japan and may boost overseas production to ease the pain of a skyrocketing yen.
The Subaru parent is chopping its outlook just weeks after Toyota Motor Corp. said it would post its first operating loss since 1938. Nissan Motor Co., meanwhile, is dialing down production again amid Japanese media reports that it will post a full-year operating loss.

Re: Official Mugen CRZ
Yeah, they cut ALOT from their budget ahead of time and are pretty conservative as a company anyway.
F1 was huge savings as were a few other projects. They dont overbuild so they really didnt have a bunch of inventory sitting around the lots like alot of other OEMs that just flood the market with product.
Nissan has been hit pretty hard, we had a few stores locally plain close because they couldnt float the credit for the inventory 370Z is awesome but production is really low and finding a M/T track pack model was like a unicorn lol.
Everyone is hurting - hell Porsche had to sell off its stake in VW to stay afloat! lol

And wow, there's more trunk room in the CRZ than I would have imagined, even with the back seat there. Way better than my 1g Insight. They must have made the hybrid electronics in the rear much more compact.

CR-****...This car is just another ugly new Honda. Every new Honda looks like garbage xcept for the japanese model CTR sedan..As much as I love Honda, I cant stand their new direction. New RL, TL, TSX, Accord Crosstour, this CRZ...All a mess when it comes to design. The days of timeless Honda designs are OVER.
