The words "Hybrid" and "Performance" don't sound good together to me.

So you don't like all the instant full torque at zero RPMs an electric motor provides?

LOL

“It’s true: we are working on a more powerful CR-Z,” he said. “Our problem with the car as it stands is that it looks very good, but it doesn’t have the performance some customers expect.”
More like " Some of our customers do not want a car that you have floor-it to pass a mail box"

Here is the bit that kills the whole story....

The problem for the CR-Z’s performance will be Honda’s efficiency targets. “It will not be acceptable for the new car to be less fuel efficient than the current one,” Kawanabe said. “The CR-Z must deliver low CO2 emissions, as well as be fun to drive.”
sooo you want more hp without more flow?....How about some stickers? I hear each sticker is worth 5hp and stickers do not use any gas.....:ugh:

Nothing against Honda, but this seems like a better alternative: link

Perhaps. However, Honda has traditionally been reluctant to use direct injection.

I'd love to see them develop it, though. They've definitely got a knack for forward-thinking technology (FCX Clarity, i-VTEC cam gear, etc...). It'd be nice to see them push more boundaries. ;) I'd also like to see some cars like the Honda Freed and Honda Elysion make it to our shores as well... but that's just me dreaming. :(

I don't like overcomplicated drivetrain setups. It doesn't make good power, nor does it get that great of gas mileage. So its a failure in my book.

More power, and more mpg, without sticker is difficult, but not impossible : that is why it is interesting.;)

Let me visually retort:

and my favorite (but it's only a concept) is the Jaguar Micro-Turbine Hybrid with over 750hp and over 1000ft/lbs of tq. and the only thing driving the wheels are ELECTRIC MOTORS!

And this car finished 2nd place at the 25 hours of Thunderhill using the IMA system in a similar fashion to how the KERS system is used.

And let's not forget that the KERS system now makes this a hybrid:

same here, but thats progression. I just hope technology starts making cars lighter, not heavier. At least its starting to head that way.

Really? What are the hp numbers of those cars sans the inbred stuff? Like 5-6 times the pos that under the hood of the crz....and those cars are making crap mpg numbers.....BECAUSE THEY HAVE HUGE MOTORS UNDER THE HOODS! They are just design games in europe when the EU is talking about making gas powerd car illeagle by 2050.....

As for the crz in the 25 hours of thunderhill....lol...who beat it? It was a old beat to heck NA miata. The crz with a ton of mods and about a 400lb weight reduction was faster than the miata on the straits but every time it got into the turns with its higher weight and crappy suspension design, the miata just drove away from it....and don't forget to tell everyone what happened to the other factory crz in the race...it skidded off the road and rolled over in a ditch. They did get it on the road again after a bunch hours it was in way back in class. I just thought it was funny that honda was allowed to do all kinds of changes to the crz( such as changing the way the hybred system worked) and it still got beat by a 15+ year old miata.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Racing_F1

Honda Racing F1 Team was a Formula One (F1) team run by Japanese car manufacturer Honda, from 1964 to 1968 and from 2006 to 2008. Honda's involvement in F1 began with the 1964 season; their withdrawal in 1968 was precipitated by the death of Honda driver Jo Schlesser during the 1968 French Grand Prix.[1] They returned in 1983 as an engine supplier, a role that ended in 1992. They returned again in 2000, providing engines for British American Racing (BAR), and by the end of 2005 BAR had been bought out and Honda Racing was re-established.
It was announced on December 5, 2008 that Honda would be exiting Formula One with immediate effect due to the current economic crisis and were looking to sell the team.[2] On February 27, 2009 it was announced that the team had been secured with a management buy-out led by team principal Ross Brawn,[3] and raced successfully as Brawn GP in 2009 before being bought by Mercedes and renamed Mercedes GP for the 2010 season.
lol, that tried and got owned, they left because they were way down on power .....so now they supply motors for indy cars:wiggle:
