Ever wonder how much the Hybrid stuff weighs?

I'm in the process of making a K-series swap kit for the CRZ and have pulled the engine, IMA, 6 speed trans and Intelligent Power System. All totaled it weighs 479 LBS. I'm a little surprised at how much it weighs. The K24 that is going in weighs only 325 LBS. The engine should be in the car by the end of the week.

Very cool. That is amazing the difference in weight. However do you have anyone that can wire it. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...n_rolleyes.gif

Good job putting the motor that belongs the car. I don't undestand why honda didn't offer it. A shop here out of tampa did the swap in a white cr-z. I would love to see some video of it moving.

HA!
Of course it's heavier, but why a K24? Isn't that a bit of an overkill? How much worse would it be with a Typer R K series?
What I want to know is how much does the chassis weigh w/o the engine and hybrid crap.

That is awesome, man I wish the cr-z could have come that way. I would be buying that car right now if Honda would not have ****ed it up.

I'm sure the Chassis Is still pretty heavy compared to what I am used to. 5th and 6th Gen Civics. I wish They would re-release a 5th or 6th gen civic (Low weight, double wishbone models). With a K20a. I Am surprised no one has ever at least tried to start a petition, considering how popular hondas are.

I am anxiously awaiting the new mount kit that you guys(Hasport) are doing....

If this turns in to a plug-n-play affair, the CR-Z is now on my to-buy list

I'm actually surprised it didnt weigh more. Did the 325 include the k24 trans? In other words, the net weight savings is under 150 lbs?

The CR-Z drive train included the engine, wiring harness, AC compressor, trans, IMA, IPU (batteries and control unit) and axles. The K24A2 included the engine, trans, wiring harness, alternator, and axles. A K20A2 weighs 305 with the same parts.

Here's a picture of the Eibach CR-Z at SEMA last week. I need to do a little more work on the wiring and exhaust and then we will release a mount kit, wiring harness and axles. It will be bolt in.

The car weighs 2657 lbs, it needs a K24.

Without the Hybrid engine and associated parts it weighs 2178 lbs. We'll put it on a diet soon, I hope to trim 300+ lbs off and get it to under 2200 lbs with K-swap.

$19K-$23K for a new car, that is expensive? I would call it reasonable, the civic's cost about the same (I think the Civic Si is a better deal though). In a few years they will be down in price. Maybe honda should do a Hasport edition CR-Z with a K24 already swapped in :)

Yes thats alot for a car you are just going to pull the engine out of.
