CR-Z Revealed in Leaked Brochure
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...neaks-out.html
Thanks to an official brochure that has slipped out, we now have our first glimpse at what the production version of Honda’s upcoming CR-Z hybrid sports car looks like. We also have the specs.
As expected, little has changed from the concept version with the CR-Z taking design cues from the Insight, Civic Type-R hatchback and retaining the chopped-off rear made famous by the CRX.
Under the hood Honda will use its Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) gasoline/electric setup with a 1.5-liter engine and electric motor. Engine power is 112-hp and 107 ft-lbs, while the electric motor kicks in 14-hp and 57 ft-lbs. With either a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox, the CR-Z can hit 62 mph in an unimpressive 9.7 seconds – just a tenth faster than the Prius.
Different driving modes will be available, including Eco, Normal and Sport. There are still no word on what fuel economy numbers will be and it’s not guaranteed that these specifications will carry over exactly to the North American spec model

You guys are being quite harsh, I think it looks great!
If those mileage numbers are true then that 25 km/L translates to ~ 59 mpg.
BTW -- I have two of those 1st gen CRXs.

0-60mph in 9.2 secs...I really fvckin wonder what the top brass at this company is thinking? Wait, are they even thinking?
I hope they suffer a lot of poor sales as a result of dumb decisions like this one
Nobody wants a street monster, but c'mon now!!???

The crx was marketed as a fuel efficient car, but it also had sportier options available in the line. I would hope this is the case for the crz, they could at least give a crz model the r18 from the current model civic and call it an si. Or better yet have the crz hybrid, a dx with the r18, and of course an si with a k20.

only plus i see is the factory five lug, as apposed to the four lugs the crx's got. other than that, it looks like the slapped a modded audi front end and a prius's rear end on there

I really ondwer what you were all expecting. It's a hybrid, and a Honda. If you were expecting a sub 6.5 0-60 time, you were sorridly mistaken. I was expecting a two door insight that's a little more modern and have styling that does not look like a sad duck. And saying it has five lug is it's only nice attribute is mind boggling.

I think it nailed the target audience:
Economy driven, yet fun to drive sporty hatchback with good lines.
With a 6spd manual and the 165 lb-ft of torque with full assist and engine torque, you will still be able to 'enjoy' the car on a spirited drive.
Anyone who was expecting a 200hp/200tq hybrid sports car was sadly mistaken.

Faster than my 1st gen Insight. Doubtless it'll lose an MPG competition, but definitely looks like it may be more fun to drive :D

Re: CR-Z Revealed in Leaked Brochure
i think i read on s2ki... that mugen is currently working on a system that utilizes the hybrid motor as a sort of supercharger to increase engine output! im sure it will be huge money when it comes out but at least mugen is doing its best to make the best out of this car...
i dont think its a dissapointment to its target audience... just a dissapointment to people who got their hopes up that hodna would make a true sports car, which they were not in the market of doing from the start of the CRZ project

Re: CR-Z Revealed in Leaked Brochure - GLASSTOP!!!
Personally, Im not so disappointed in the performance. Its a hybrid, come on guys! But I wish Honda should of tried to kick the **** out of the Prius in fuel efficiency like it did with the Insight.
On a positive note: at least the CRZ gets the glasstop that are EDs never did. Then again the brochure is from Japan, so we might be SOL again.

if we do get a glasstop itll be more just like a big sunroof... im pretty sure full glass tops dont conform to crash test specs.

Re: CR-Z Revealed in Leaked Brochure
I don't think its that we were expecting a pocket rocket revolution or something that would crush a GTI, I think what's disappointing is that a 9.7 second 0-62 is surprisingly slow for what was being advertised as a sporty hybrid. I'm surprised that a two-seater coupe with at least as much horsepower (a little more in this case) as an old USDM CRX would yield something under nine seconds, hybrid or not, simply through better technology and lighter weight as opposed to hybrid sedans. I assume this is one heavy coupe...
But something with almost 60MPG? I can get on board with that no problem. I think we're seeing something better related to the CRX HF than the CRX Si, and I think that's what SRX fans were hoping for. I see a plentiful array of CR-Z's on the road with engine swaps in the near future.

Re: CR-Z Revealed in Leaked Brochure
Not to mention that glasstops are a large chunk of weight in the worst possible location for anything intended to be described as "sporty". Then again, so are moonroofs, and my GSR has one of those damn things...
