Um,
More torque than horsepower, from a car that revs to 8,500? Does not compute...
Under the hood, Spoon took apart the 1.5-liter inline-4 and reassembled the i-VTEC powerplant with many of its own parts. The ECU was remapped, increasing redline from 6200 rpm to 8500, with more torque in the mid range. Of particular note is Spoon’s new exhaust, which makes this hybrid sound like an Italian exotic. Together, the gasoline engine and electric motor produce about 145 bhp and about 150 lb.-ft. of torque, significant gains over stock.

Although it would be interesting to see what the power curve looks like.

That is not the REAL mileage, that is the Writer's EPA style estimate but he is only speculating anyway.
It's just the head and the Vtec that was reworked. He did not even suggest they messed with the bottom end.
The link doesn't even work.

Interesting price. Spoon is way too hyped. Maybe if their parts weren't so expensive I would have some.
The CR-Z is going to need a K20 swap for it to be a really quick car. The hybrid motor is a bit of a disappointment to enthusiasts :-(

They make many quality pieces and have a top notch group of engineers that develop well thought out performance parts. Just because the stuff you see on HT is cheap crap that other people pay for doesn't mean all of spoon is hyped up crap.
8 grand is stupid cheap to build a full motor with one off engineered parts that raise the redline 2k rpm, not to mention wheels $2k, tires $800, suspension $2k steering $300 wheel mirrors $200, Seats $1500, Harnesses $400 etc, PLUS labor to pull the motor build the motor install the motor install the suspension. Thats $7k plus in just parts NOT including the motor or labor. It adds up quick and people have put way more into a 94 integra.
It is a QUICK car, they tested it to a FN2R, with a 'mighty k20'. and its does just fine with it. 150 150 is plenty for a 2400-2500 lb car. It wont be a "Fast" car but it is plenty to enjoy on track and in a motorsports environment. Which is exactly what this car is supposed to be. Its not meant to be the next s2k or NSX. Its just supposed to be a fun small car thats good to the environment. I will never get why people hate on it because its not a raped 91 CRX tin can that some kid in his garage slapped a motor in it from a RSX-S.
This is not directed only at you im just frustrated with the majority of people on this forum
