i think that crack about just upping the voltage would be very beneficial. i mean if you boost the voltage to the electric motor you could use that more often to propel the car for greater mpg's and have the great benefit of instant TORQUE! i think that with the proper tuning and use of the electric motor you could have a great performing car.

swapping a K is first in thought for me....i beleive it will be a lot harder than everyone assumes...yes it will be a more powerful powerplant than then current one that is in there and yes it will defeat the purpose of amazing gas mileage of the hybird but at the same time it will be unique and challenging...
i want to get a CR-Z, swap a k20a, do basic bolt-ons, suspension, etc... and then be done with it...you will still have decent gas mileage and the car will still be realitively quick/fun/sporty from the power/weight ratio in a new style

they should have a battery volt up dial and guage!!!!!!
also they should make a kit where when you turn the volts up it makes
like a buzzing sound so everyone knows ur running alot of volts!!!!
if hybrid keeps going main stream watch out turbo guys the volts are getting cranked
all motor guys wont stand a chance against a built volt up motor!!!

Anyone seen the Ground Control kit out for the CRZ? I saw it some pictures of it on another crz forum. I looked around and it looks like that make something for the insight too.

Turbocharging the little 1.5 will also be pointless. Replacing all the internals will be pricey and expensive. Replacing the electric motors and batteries will probably be even more expensive.
Besides, the car looks great. I'd pay good money to see a CRZ blow the doors off a 370z.

^^very good point!
YES we all want to stuff a K series under the hood. most of us who have been doing this a while know..swap that single cam for a dual cam. sure u can boost a single cam and all that. but u dont get the kind of power you would get from a B or K motor with the same type of mods. so if u want to try to make the hybrid engine push out more power, have fun doing that. sounds expensive and i dont think you'll get much out of it. cus the rest of us are gonna put a K series under the hood and have PROVEN power that we know will put out big numbers. sure, the K dont get 40 mpgs, but that's not why we want a K motor in a CRZ. we want P O W E R and a light car. its the CRX all over again. going back to the roots of honda.
BTW...the HKS video looks really fake.

I think there's a lot more to it than that, I still think the entire powertrain and wiring would have to be gutted out of the car for a working K swap to make it's way into a CR-Z

Thhat's kinda funny, but actually makes me wonder if there's any way to get more power out of the electrical side of things when it comes to these hybrids.

See, look at that. The K20 sits in there absolutely perfectly, why didn't Honda just do this from the start... Nice looking car 01DC4.

According to a friend of mine at Honda, the CRZ was designed for the K-series engine. BTW a J-series fits too.
