Need help
For the life of me I can’t find anything online about rear wheel speed sensor on drum brakes. I have a code and looks like it needs to be replaced, but from what I can see it’s under a rubber boot on back of hub. Just don’t want to be ripping it apart, is there a special way of getting that sensor out.
Appreciate any help I can get. 2015 Fit |
Re: Need help
There seems to be a lot in the Service Manual about troubleshooting the sensor, but I couldn't find anything about replacing it. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Re: Need help
Will this help?

Re: Need help
Not really but thanks, this is for the front sensor and disc brakes. I need rear with drum brakes, it’s completely different.

Re: Need help
The procedure is to unclip the wheel sensor wiring from a couple of brackets, then remove the drum, then the rear hub wheel bearing to get at the wheel sensor mounting bolt.
This video shows a guy removing the rear hub wheel bearing. At the 5:57 mark of the video, it shows the sensor mounting bolt. |

You are correct. It's for a 2012. I don't have the 2015 Service Manual. My regrets. :) |
Re: Need help
Thanks Tech8 I will try that in a couple of days when I put on the winter tires. I’m surprised he doesn’t say what that bolt is for.

Re: Need help
These are the instructions. The guy's video is good in that you can visually see him taking the parts off to get to that wheel speed sensor mount bolt.

Re: Need help
Tech8 thank you so much for all the info, much appreciated. I have one more thing.
I had a quick look at car and where the sensor disconnect is it’s all corroded like water and salt got in there. So if I need to replace the cable from sensor connection to inside of car, do you have any info on where that wire goes. Also that drawing you sent I believe is for left wheel and mine is right. When checking for prices I noticed the cable for drivers side is almost twice as long as passenger side. Sorry if I’m being a pain. |

Thank you.

The connector for the passenger side sensor is in the wheel well area, which connects to the floor wire harness. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...0f9e636530.png |

Service manual repair instructions will generally only show illustration for one side, if instructions for the other side is similar.

Re: Need help
“Update” I had wheel off to maybe start replacing the sensor and noticed oil around hub bearing so I figured I would replace it. No one around here has them, they are on back order everywhere. Waiting on a quote from dealer but I don’t want to be paying dealer prices which I’m sure is over $300
Any suggestions? |
Re: Need help
Update 2 found a hub and got it replaced and bought the speed sensor from dealer which wasn’t too bad $40 Canadian.
Problem is one of the wires on harness that goes into the car is broken, looks like it corroded. Now does anyone know if I remove rear seat and carpet will there be another connection somewhere or do I have to splice the wires “if I can” |
Re: Need help
I've used this place and they usually have some of the best prices. Shiopping can be up there though.
