honda jazz/fit 2005 p0638 & p0122

Okay. I just had to put my story here. Wife got this 2005 Jazz and it worked like a dream. After summer the car started having some symtoms. Starting it cold or warm the enginelight came on and idle was crazy, jumping up & down. After restarting the light sometimes went away. I scanned the error code and it was p0638. I googled the code and found out that it was throttlebody sensor related. Ive googled some more and desided to clean the throttlebody. It helped for some time but the symptoms started again much worse. So i took the car to a mechanic who cleaned it well. Again the the car worked fine few days. But now the car was undrivable (got only 2500rpm). Next step i took was to take the car to a proper diagnosis. The mechanic looked from the the diagnosis tool that the throttle was responsing but the throttlebody wasnt. So i ordered new tb (655euros). Changed it and id did the job(for one day). After that i got error code p0122 & p0211. It was throttle position sensor related. Couldnt check the voltages straight from the connector because of the 6P waterproof plug. Had to make this jumpercable male - female connector mess to get it measured. Voltages were fine. So i stripped the taped wires to see if there was any bad wires. There werent. Asked the price of new tps. 400euros. I was pissed off snd asked secondhand spare, it was 80euros. I decided to look at the car once again. Now
i looked the wires that goes to the tb. Started stripping down the tapes and omfg! This wire
((yellow/green)was cut wehre the tb wires meets the bigger bunch from the ecu. This wire didnt go to the ecu. It went down to this other wirebunch under plastic cover. The corner was almost 180 degrees so no wonder the cable was cut. Fixed the wire and everything is fine now.

My 06 Jazz gave a p0638 and then subsequently a p1249 error.
Having searched online I came across this thread plus the following link

http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/PrintTopic120618.aspx

As both problems had similar symptoms and solutions I printed both off and showed them to my mechanic. He said it proved invaluable, as the cause/solution was the same yellow/green wire that this OP mentioned.
He said that Honda had definitely used the minimum amount of wire to make the connection.....

Hi, just signed up to thank you for your post, had exactly the same problem and the cause was the same yellow-green wire. Was about to order a used throttle body, as advised by my mechanic, so you saved me money and trouble, as that would not fix it.

Thank you! I repaired my car, I have lot of errors related to throtoling and sensor A and B and ideling. I changed the tps with the throttle body without success. It was the green or green yellow wire it seems that honda made economy on wiring the wires pack near the throtle body have a big pressure. Some wires will cut inside the isolant and create a random ideling behavior.
please note if this wire not fully cut it can make: motor hesitation. Gas pedale stop working. Rpm up down.
when it fully cut the rpm will up to 2000 max. The rpm also will up and down.
you need to clean the errors after the reparation.

I am really grateful for your post about PO638 & PO122. I had the similar problem with my Honda jazz, 54 registration, engine light on along with error codes (PO638, PO122 and PO221). As suggested by the mechanics, changed throttle body and actuator spending a lot of money but it didn't work. Thankfully I read the original and the subsequent posts. Asked the mechanic to please carefully check the yellow/green wire, which was cut at the point where it joins the bunch from ECO. We re-connected the wire, now my Honda Jazz is running perfectly. I found these posts extremely useful. Much appreciated!

Hello everyone,

this is very old tread but very good one.
I found this on my Jazz 1.4i sport 2007.

Can you please tell me, how can I remove this connector below in the picture? Because I can't come in next to repair the broken wire.

Thank you a lot for this post, it helped me immensely , I had the same problem with Honda Jazz 2005, my mechanic said that I need to change the throttle body, and it's difficult to find one around. so I googled about the code P0221 and I found this post. I removed the air filter box, then the throttle body, below it you will find the wires..and as described before, the yellow wire is about to be cut..I repaired it and the car is working perfectly. I really appreciated your post.
