The article simply says some 07 model Fits at the bottom, I'm not sure.

all of these low mileage problems seems like driver habits. like some1 said before 109hp isn't much and has little to nothing in torque. I'm sure the numbers are real(est mpg), i think people are just used to more powerful cars...

Perhaps... they need to learn how to drive a low powered vehicle. I went from a 2002 BMW 325i to my 1994 Honda Civic and an 07' Caliber and had no issues Of course my 325i, driven like I stole it, was beating some of these Fit numbers... it got 22 - 29 MPG on the same commute as my 94' Civic got 33 - 44 MPG. My 07' Dodge Caliber, which I traded in the BMW for, gets *about* the same as the BMW... 22 - 28.5 MPG to date.

I never saw under 22 MPG on the 325i even with hard acceleration and lots of interstate at 80+ MPH. That is from a 3300 pounds car with a 2.5L inline six engine... of course it was a manual as well, which helps alot in efficiency. I baby the Caliber in comparison to get equivalent gas mileage. It actually did better than the Caliber if I was *trying* for good mileage... might have something to do with power loss in the CVT on the Dodge.

I think so well I hope.

Vehicles covered in the deal: 2002 to 2006 Hondas and Acuras bought from April 13, 2002, to Nov. 7, 2006. Some 2007 Honda Fits also are included.

I'd have to say a lot of the mileage problems could be driving habits. I've got an AT, I drove it normally, not too conservatively, on the first tank and got the average mileage for city driving, which about 90% of it was city. This tank, I've been even more conservative and used the paddle shifters to upshift earlier. When it's on empty, I'll calculate it again and see if it helped.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give us some information on the highway mileage on the AT Fit.

Don't know if you do a lot of highway driving, but I'm going nuts tryin gto find out some real highway figures on the AT cars. For me, it's the difference between buying one and not buying one (for the wife).

thanks...

We're at a 1/4 tank on the second fill up, it'll be gone soon and I'll have an update.

Yet again, my manual Sport averaged 6.7L/100kms or 35 US MPG on my last tank of gas. For winter driving in Canada, that's damn good. That's what I was averaging last summer when it was new. I do 50/50 city/highway driving..

Mine has 28,000 kms or 17,400 miles.

I get about 290-300 miles until my gas light turns on. 90% of my driving is on the freeway. I usually drive about 70-75 mph. When I fill up it takes about 9 gallons to fill( the tank is not completely empty when the light turns on). The average MPG i'm getting is about 32-33 on the highway

Well, the mileage isn't all that bad if you can get a consistent 32-33 for an AT car, I guess. It would be SO much better if the tank were even 2 gallons bigger, though.

I don't see my wife going for a car w/ a 300 mile range. She's be tanking up every 3 days--no good. (then again, her CR-V doesn't do much better for range)

Thanks for the info...

I am experiencing this as well and its nice to not be alone. I have a MT Fit, before the weather got cold up here in Michigan, I was getting 38mpg ~80% freeway driving at 75 to 80 mph. Now I am getting 32 to 35 mpg. 35-36 mpg when I baby it, 65 mph on the freeway, shifting before 3k etc...

The EPA will be re-evaluating the fuel mileage estimates. The current standards are from the early 80s. The new standards will be taking into account A/C use, longer commutes, higher speed limits etc...

http://autos.yahoo.com/green_center-article_153/

The numbers we are reporting could just be the mileage we are supposed to be getting. *thrugs*

Lets all get VAFC's and tune our Fits or an intake & header, probably the best options for more MPGs

Default more numbers

I have a MT Fit LX (Canadian equivalent of the US base model I think), and I have compiled my gas fill-ups since owning the car, and here is some of the data I got between July 2006 until Feb 2007.

I generally drive conservatively and shift around 3K-3500. Most of the numbers near the top are summer roadtrips, and the lower ones are primarily just short drives around the city. I wonder how much difference it makes to be using radio/CD player and stuff like headlights?

Here are the L/100km numbers from fill up to fill up:
6.590017825
7.684210526
5.350877193
6.341991342
6.428571429
6.184210526
6.612149533
6.848030019
6.933333333
6.266025641
6.76980198
8.837606838
7.233933162
6.717021277
8.49339207
6.950738916
7.711688312
7.52238806
9.62992126
7.150326797
7.676966292
8.431192661

Since most of you use MPG:
35.74345887
30.65377117
44.02082548
37.14133596
36.64111595
38.0889412
35.62382095
34.39675796
33.97356217
37.59161621
34.79422763
26.65314665
32.56182022
35.06763212
27.73332835
33.88848782
30.54454765
31.31319858
24.460224
32.94255462
30.68269706
27.93792534

My average overall: 6.89 L/100km or 34.18 mpg
For summer/fall average: 6.49 L/100km or 36.29 mpg

I live in Ottawa, Canada as another person here, but I guess I don't get as good winter mileage. It may be because of my winter tires (Michelin X-Ice) and the fact that I had only ever added air to the tires once (last week).

I own a Auto transmission Fit Sport. I bought it back in July of 2006. I have just over 10,000 miles on it. Therefore, I can tell you that I have fully explored every way I can think of to get better gas mileage. I still average 22-24 MPG. I personally work for a Toyota Service department. I would have bought a Yaris, (getting over 30 mpg AT no sweat) but thought the Fit looked better, and thought that it got the same mileage the Yaris did. Point is, I live in Vegas, and have already made it through a Hot summer, and dgot terrible gas mileage. I teach people everyday how to drive better so that they can recieve better MPG, so I do know a thing or two about driving to get best results. The truth is, we have been lied to. All those of us who have Auto trans. Fits need to start talking about what we are gonna DO about being exploited, and lied to. by Honda.

Disheartening to see this going on even with the manual trannies. I'm willing to bet that a more powerful engine would better mileage numbers.

Why not a destroked K20A3 or something?

You've got a lot less elevation changes in Phoenix, then there are in other parts of the country.

I'm mildly pissed off too.

My gas numbers aren't any better than my Prelude.
And my old Lude was a 200HP engine.

Default I think there is a problem! (detailed comparison)

My 2007 FIT SPORT AT gets 29 to 30 mpg. I drive 42 miles each do to work 4 days a week in it. 90% of that is freeway driving at speeds between stop-and-go traffic to more frequently 65 - 80 mph. My figures are less than published 31 mpg city which is at least what I expect to get. My calculation is based on filling up after fuel light comes on, recording the gallons added, then recording the miles driven until the light comes back on again. I've recorded this 5 times over the last 6 months and have gotten very similar results - 29 to 30 mpg.

I drive another car (a 2001 Audi) to work ocassionally that gets 20 to 21 mpg with published figures of 17 city and 24 highway. I drive the same way and along the same route in similar traffic conditions and I get 20 to 21 mpg. That is what I expect to get with that vehicle under those conditions - it's kind of split between the highway and city figures - fairly straightforward.

My conclusion is that there is something clearly wrong with either my Fit or Honda's published figures. Either way I'm bringing it up with my dealer soon.
