Rear Disc Integrated Parking Brake - How does it work
This is a Rear Brake Disc assembly on a Honda JAZZ 2009.
In this car the Parking Brake is integrated in the caliper assembly as opposed as having a seperate mechanism which use the internal part of the rotor with brake shoes
Ive read a great deal and watched many overhaul of this caliper, but i don't understand how the self adjusting bolt works (in this picture the part number 26)
I know that the piston is screwed to this adjusting bolt but how does it adjust itself to lessen the gap due to pads wearing since the piston doesnt turn during usage ?
Is it the bolt itself that work like a ratchet inside?
And when pulling the handbrake, does the adjusting bolt part rotate ? or simply push the piston ?

Refer to page 4 through 6 regarding how the automatic adjusting mechanism compensates for piston movement as the brake pads wear.
