I picked up a 99 EX in September for $2100...and it's clean as ****. Soooo I'd say forget walking away. RUN and if possible kick the seller in the shin on the way by. I wouldn't pay more than $4K for that as described. $4500 if it had ALL the optional sport trim, mudflaps, and a roof rack.

I know the price sounds ridiculous but these things are almost priceless in Michigan.
For an example a dealership near me sold a 02 LE with 230k for $6500 and it didn't sit to long on their lot.

I mean we get rust here too, but that's insane. I bought mine from a dealership in VA. It's got 225K on it.... I'll let it go for $6K right now LMAO. I'll even drive it there LOL. Rear diff and trans fluid just serviced, brand new OEM midpipe, valves adjusted, brand new pioneer double din with bluetooth, clean as a whistle. I'm not really looking to sell but if you're trying to pay that kind of price it's yours.

I'd just keep an eye out on craigslist and cars.com. One will pop up nearby with low miles and a much better price.

Just drive it then pass it down to my son when he turns 16 in two years.

In that case, I would probably buy a beater instead, especially for the price. Then again, it all depends on what you want sitting in your driveway. You must be aware of the B20 engine issues of constant valve lash maintenance, interior leaks, and other CRV specific issues correct? Is there a reason you are so interested in a CRV specifically?

Personally, for the price, I would walk away unless you are looking for a super nice base to start a build with or something along those lines. Once older vehicles sit more than they are driven, things like suspension rubber and such deteriorate and leads to more repairs down the road.

I know nothing about these vehicles just that most Hondas are pretty reliable.
I haven't seen very many 2000 or 2001 CR-V's for sale so I was assuming they were really good.
