Used CRV to mod

Used CRV to mod
Hey Guys,
I've been lurking for a bit, but I'm looking to buy either a first gen or second gen CRV manual, AWD. What i'm looking to do is mod them a bit and likely turbo charge, looking to get around 400hp on 93 octane. What advice could you give me going either way. Most 1st gen builds I see swap to a b18b or a sleeved b20, but it looks like on the second gen k24 the block is strong enough without needing sleeves.
I like the look of the first gen better, but there are way more off the shelf parts available for the gen 2.
I guess what i'm looking for is which would be more receptive to mods and more reliable in the long run a built k24 second gen or built b20/b18 1st gen.
My budget is going to be around 10 grand.
thanks,

Re: Used CRV to mod
if you have 10 grand. I would do k24 into a first gen. first gen has much nicer body lines. and a k24 would rip.
I currently own both a first gen and a 2nd gen. I love my first gen's style but I like the power of the 2nd gen.

That's interesting i haven't seen anybody do that swap to a first gen. I'll do some research on that. Most first gens i find for sale are pretty thrashed, but i've been seeing some 2005's or so that still look decent for a reasonable price. They're both old cars, but the ones that are in decent condition people are asking almost twice KBB.
-- Yea i don't think i'm gonna do a Kswap into a gen 1. Would be my entire budget to have a NA k24 in a gen 1 when i could build a turbo B series gen 1 or Turbo k series gen 2

Yea i found a K swap gen 1 build over on K20a.net, It didn't look too cumbersome, not much customization besides exhaust and shortening the drive shaft. What kind of power can I put through either drive train Gen 1 vs Gen 2 ? I haven't seen many people swap them out for builds around 400hp but a lot are switching to FWD and using a beefier transmission/axles
