Default Re: Please help: Timing belt tension/slack adjustment

I would like to adjust the timing belt tensioner on my Gen 1 CRV . Is it necessary to remove anything ( accessory belts, motor mounts) in order to access and adjust to the TB tensioner adjusting bolt ?

Also, I am just curious as to the estimated age/ approximate of the TB in the OP's TB photo in this thread . ( ie- does it "look old" and and need to be replaced soon?). I know that visual inspecton of a TB is not a thing to rely on (vs periodic replacement) but I just wanted to know want people think about this one .

- Thanks

Trick I found was to tension the timing belt by applying a clockwise load to the intake camshaft sprocket using a spanner on the sprocket nut which removes the slack from the belt between the camshaft exhaust sprocket and crankshaft sprockets, then tighten the tensioner, doing that ensures all the belt slack is taken up by the tensioner. When I checked my timing belt that was quite recently replaced I also found the timing belt looking excessively loose.

I found that tip here, scroll down the page: https://www.autozone.com/repairguide...00c1528026a619
