ABS Sensor Ring and New Axles
2005 CR-V EX AWD Automatic with ABS. I need to replace my left front driveaxle. I think 2005 is the first year the CR-V came with ABS. I notice that a lot of the replacement axle descriptions say "includes Include ABS Inner Sensor Ring" or "does not include Includes ABS Inner Sensor Ring." I've read a lot of the posts here that say you can use ABS axles on non-ABS cars, but if you install an axle that doesn't have the ABS ring in a car with ABS the ABS system won't work. These posts all are for Civics, Acura Integras, and other sedans. I haven't seen any discussion on this topic for CR-Vs.
My ABS sensor is in the steering knuckle and as far as I can tell the sensor ring is also in the knuckle, not on the axle. So I don't see how it would matter if the axle is ABS or not. Can anyone confirm this?
Is this disclaimer about not including the ABS ring just a standard CYA phrase they include in the description whether it applies to the particular vehicle application in question?
I haven't cleaned up the slung CV joint grease yet but you can see the ABS cable below where it plugs into the hub.
