110K no transmission fluid change
My wife's car just turned 110K and she has owned it since it was new. We recently were married and I just now found out that she has never had the transmission fluid changed. Otherwise the car is in fabulous shape and runs very well, including the tranny.
My question is - should I try to change it now or as I've heard from some people, this could really destroy the seals by putting new tranny fluid in. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Leaving the fluid in there should not be an option. If the tranny goes away after the fluid change, It was bad anyway. If its a 5 speed, change it once.If its an auto, change it 3 times with test drives in between.

Re: 110K no transmission fluid change
what you want to do as stated is 3 drain and refills....flushing the fluid can damage the trans because hondas do not have serviceable filters......do a drain and refill and drive a couple miles then repeat twice

My girlfriends CRV has almost 180k on it... we bought it with 112k and I have never changed the ATF. I have no idea if it was ever done before.
The ATF fluid isn't cheap... so 3 fluid changes? The manual shows overhaul capacity at 3.1 quarts for a change, so I will need a total of 9 quarts to complete 3 changes right?

For sure you should change it now.
The 3 changes is new to me, I've never done an ATF change on a Honda, I'm used to GM.
My accord has 80k on it, not sure if it has ever been changed, thats how I bought it. Not trying to jack your thread, but should I do a 3x change?

i think the idea behind the 3x change is because when you drain the tranny fluid its not gona completely train the torque converter still holds alot. so if you do it three times it will likely get all the old stuff out.
