Wrecked CRX Rebuild

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
Got some parts in over the weekend. I am pretty disappointed. The innovation engine mounts, AC mount, and linkage were all chipped or dinged. Additionally, the balancing drill hole for the ACT flywheel was pretty messed up. I will call tomorrow and complain.
On other news, I took my old engine out today.

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
ACT said the burrs from drilling the balance hole causes the scratches around the hole. There isn't much they can do about it. I am sending back the innovative parts for replacements.
Autopower Roll bar, with Schroth 4 point DOT approved harness. Any suggestions on how to attach it to the bar? Of course the way I pictured it would be with steel 3 bar sliders.
Carbon Creations, carbon fiber hood, and fenders.
New Honda OEM hood emblem, and moldings.
88 Doors (without seat belts).
Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch. No centrifugal weights on the B-Series I guess; on another note my D-Series clutch didn't have them either.

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
sucks that happened to your crx pretty much same thing happened recently to mines only mine got t-boned But like some peeps posted why so long to get out of the spot? I mean yeah I know no power steering- same for mines too but its easy to drive a crx. mines driving it I basically feel like it has power steering is how easy I can drive mines even in tight spots...anyways hopefully itll turn out for u urs looks like an easy fix compared to mines tho on getting it back on the road GL

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
I am getting a bit frustrated with Swap Shop Racing.
I ordered mounts from them on 12/5/11, received the mounts two weeks later. I then called them the next day about the damage to the one. They said they were custom so Innovation will have to make a new one. They call Innovation and told me they will start making the replacement, so when they receive my damaged one, they can immediately ship out the replacement. I two day shipped them on 12/26/11. Today 1/5/12 they still have not shipped out the replacement. My 30 day warranty on my engine expires on Sunday. I bought the engine 4 days after ordering the mounts.
Very disappointed.

NO SPARK
The engine is in the car. Didn't get the tranny mount, so I used a chain in place of it. It won't start because it doesn't have spark. I did put new wires, plugs, cap and rotor on it. Guessing it is the distributor or the ECU.

I used a chain place of the transmission mount, because they were taking so long replacing it. Swap Shop Racing ended up sending me back the original damaged mount, because innovative was having trouble with their black anodizing. By taking the mount apart it went together a lot easier.
I got spark after replacing the coil, but it still doesn't want to start. I need to get off to paint so I'll worry about that later.
Things I still need to do under the hood:
1. Clean up wiring
2. Get replacement battery from warranty
3. Get smaller radiator fans
4. Find two lower bolts that go into the rear mount, none of the honda ones I had were big enough. Anyone know anything about these?
Here are some pictures of my engine in. (Corners are temporary).

Some guy was selling them on ebay, I think he has more. $200 for the lot. I actually have the door ones new in packaging also. The problem is they are 90-91, so I hope they work ok.

Dropped my car off at the painter's place. Never been there before. All the cars he had were amazing. They seriously just looked like mirrors. I am guessing the paint job will cost more than I paid for the car.
I don't know what exactly to do with the carbon fiber front end. My initial intention was to paint it to match the rest of the body. Now I am considering the following:
1. Paint Carbon fiber to match the body.
2. Only paint the pin strip on the carbon fiber.
3. Fade the carbon to black.
4. Carbon fiber flames.
I think these options would give the appearance of stock at 20 feet, but some would look ridiculous up close. Please give me your opinions!

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
Looks good so far. I've considered going with carbon fiber fenders as well, but it just seems to clash a little too much for my tastes. Plus I would feel really guilty covering up that beautiful weave if I painted it.
As far as the crash goes...these kids need to quit giving you a hard time about it. You are clearly stopped when the old man just drives right into your car. The only way you are at fault in my eyes is because you're already partially in the road.
Kind of irrelevant, but at least you got the funds to fix your car.

I would just leave the carbon fiber the way it is... if anything just paint fenders not hood, but why not show it off !!!

Re: Wrecked CRX Rebuild
stop being a drama queen and stop making excuses, that was nowhere near 50/50. that was completely your fault, you clearly pulled out into traffic when you didn't have right of way. no matter how fast or slow he was going, it is still your fault.
that wasn't a wreck more of a bump.
clean Crx doe, props.

He was a hater. He probably likes Domestics and took his anger out on you. Lol
Can't wait to see you finish it! I'm starting my build thread sometime this week.
Got a few interior parts and ordering a 5 spd transmission from Japan with ~40,000-~60,000 miles on it. 4 spd sucks -.-
