Default Whats the difference between a D15B1 and a D15B2?

I've heard many different things on the differences between the D15B1 and the D15B2. However I still don't understand the real big differences between the two, I mean WTF?? Can you guys help me out?

OK then, will an si exhaust manifold fit my std block?

Keep in mind that the 90-91 STD (D15B1) have the same exhaust manifold as the DX (D15B2). The real difference lies within the intake manifold. The D15B1 has a restrictor plate which is what accounts for the difference in power output.

one is rated at 92 hp it has a si style exhaust manifold...other is rated at 70 hp..it has a exhaust manifold wih catylitic converter on it..reace with a si style and youd have a 92hp engine...both engine have same compression,bore,stroke,cam,pm5 ecu...just diff engine code since one ce with 4speed trans and crappy exhuast manifold
sorry but u got the ecu's wrong
the STD has a PM9 and the DX has a PM5
the 88-89 STD has a cat on the manifold, 90-91 has a 4-1 design...
and i beleive the power relies between the ecu maps, and intake restrictor like wrong hand said

The difference between the two is a milder cam. I had a 90 std and swapped the head with a DX head and gained quite a bit of power. Both the standard and DX models had the same exhaust manifold. The only one with a close coupled cat was the CRX HF.

Don't make fun, it was 5 years ago!

90-91 std had a pm9 my 88 was a pm5

88 d15b1s have 9.6:1 compression stock vs the 9.2:1 of any other year.
d15b1 does have a restrictor plate in the tbody whch only allows for 1/3 the air flow.
d15b2 had a header similar to the si, d15b1 has a turbo manifold looking header with a cat bolted vertically to it then a 1.5" down pipe to exhaust.
d15b1 has a crap-o cam tat stops making power at 6-6200rpm
d15b2 has a slight mroe agressive one

if you want to eliminate the cat completely buy an si header and a STD b pipe. bolts straight up an eliminates the cat completely. the std b pipe is 2" diameter. this works for any 88-91 hatch

Not all B1's had the close coupled cat. Look at mine, it was a normal dx style exhaust. This may be a 88 only thing because every 89-91 std I've gotten parts off of has looked the same as mine.

We are all cool with our 4 forward gears and 70hp

I did bust a 10.9 60mph in the 1/8th with my gutted 4-speed std with intake, exhaust, and dx head

So with a 91 std (like me!) is there a difference between the existing exhaust manifold and an si manifold??? Would removing the restrictor plate and swaping the ecu with a pm5 work? or will i totally **** myself in the goat ***?
