I ordered a head from a head place and they were supposed to send me a 96 civic ex head, which if im not mistaken is a P2J-5. Well they send me a P2J-2 head. So a P2J-2 is off of a 92-95 civic right? if you know about this please let me know, thanks.

the head says 95 on it, along with P2J-2, my other head says 96 on it, and says P2J-5, so are they the same, anyone

sounds like theyre same head just different years...... I believe they may have changed the part #s slightly from year to year

will a 95 head look different, cause this one looks just like my 96 but it says 95, and instead of P2J-5, it says P2J-2, are they the same, anyone.

yo you guys so i recently bought a d16y8 head the stamp says p2j-2 97. but the head came with a dual vtec solenoid... i thought they came with just 1 solenoid???

The P2J-2 is a 3-stage V-TEC head, which means it is a combination of V-TEC E (for fuel economy) and classic V-TEC (for high performance). That is why it has 2 solenoids: in the first stage the cylinder head fully opens 1 intake valve and the other slightly open, that is the "12 valve" mode, with that the engine has better torque at low rpm, at 3000 rpm it opens the first solenoid and the 2 intake valves run wide open and this is "16 valve mode" best performance for mid rpm range, then at 5000rpm the second solenoid activates the third lobe to get high performance mode . As you can see, this is the most advanced stock head for the 96-00 D engine.
