Default H23 in a CRX? good? fast?

i have a 95SE prelude with a H23a1 in it...i threw a rod and broke the crank...i got my motor TOTALLY rebuilt...with 20 over pistons and bored cylinders....i bought anohter H23 block to use cause i figured the other was cracked....i spent $2490 overall on the rebuild...now the prelude is runnin great...

question is...i still have the extra H23 block....i can get another H23 head, and build it to be a runner...i have a 88 CRX i am making a straight line drag racing car...with roll cage and everything....how would a H23 in a CRX be? it has 160 horses, and not sure of torque....in my prelude with just i/e, i run 10.45 in the 1.8...and 16.0 in the 1/4....95SE is an automatic....my CRX is a 5spd..

i know a H22 in a CRX is tough...i figure a H23 is the same thing...just thinking what i could do with extra parts lying around....ill prolly lean towards the H22 in the CRX..

this topic is discussed from time to time. most people are against the concept, due to the frame mutilation that it requires. if you were to brace the chassis appropriately, it could be a pretty lethal setup. is the H23 a single cam? does anyone make a cam for it? would you have access to a type s trans with lsd? that would make or break the swap--traction is going to be a nightmare without an lsd.

4 a all out drag car it would be ill . Place racing makes a weld in mount kit . The ultimate would be h23/ vtec or h23 turbo in the crx

CRX with an H23 = too much HP, no traction, horrible turning radius, gawdawful weight distribution, lots of headaches.

umm, go for it.

if you want it done i have a friend who can do it for you. I have seen him do over 8+ 88-91 crx/civic h22/h23 swaps.

I would go for it. It should make for a pretty good setup for either all motor or turbo.

better be ready to add weight to the rear end, just the motor alone will make that car lean on the front wheels and rear wheels wil be off the ground.

That motor is heavy

Funny thing is that is all a myth. Yes it is heavier but it's not like you are putting a 350 or some other V8 in there. All that is required to offset the weight difference is improving the suspension components. ie stiffer springs and struts.
