Default water spueing from back of block

so about 2 months ago i went to start my car after we had sub freezing temps and forgot that i didnt have antifreeze in the system. water started spewing out of the driverside rear of the block and i thought i had destroyed my waterpump took it off and it was fine. my question is... is the block cracked somewhere that i cannot see or is there a plug ment to releive pressure if something like this were to happen? i ask this because many old school v8's have them and i dont want to swap in another block if just a plug have popped. any input is greatly appreciated!

i agree with zenney. there's the water tube at the back of the block, along with several rubber hoses that run to the iacv and the fitv. my guess would be that maybe the return line to the water tube from the iacv popped on ya
