What exact to you mean tough to shift? Do you mean is it hard to shift from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th and so on?

If so, check your shift linkage on the bottom of your car. There should be bolts there and make sure the bolt on the shifter is not too tight. That is what causes hard shifting movement.
