Throttle Position Sensor?

Throttle Position Sensor?
so ive researched again and again on this topic.
its a DPFI D15B
i have an idea that it's probably the TPS due to the fact that, i have gone through the original IACV, a used one, and a brand new one now. Since it's a DPFI throttle body it doesn't have the FITV.
here are some symptoms
btw the only RPM guage i have is on my Timing Gun, i dont have an RPM guage in my cluster or i would post RPMs
-a slight press on the gas pedal causes a surge in the engine constantly.
-when pressing on the gas, it seems as if the RPMs completely drop causing it to give a slight jerk, as the same for when giving gas.
-there also seems to be a gap in the gas pedal, at the time before it gives gas.
-timing is set correctly by way of TDC, taking off distributor cap and first spark plug procedure
- while i have a timing light pointed at my marks, the marks move back and forth with fluctuation in idle. Due to this fluctuation in idle i cant set my idle RPMs to 750 as stated on my under hood idle specifications sticker.
- i have read abt the TPS sensor causing an RPM fluctuation while on the throttle and ive noticed while driving on freeways, close to cement walls, that i can hear sort of a "waaaaahhhh waaaaahhhh waaah wah wah wah wah" then it settles lol
as for now this is all i can write up so please, state your opinions. i will accept any feed back, ty

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: Throttle Position Sensor?
Sounds like you don't know what you are doing...
Adjust your throttle cable.
You set the idle with the IACV unplugged.
You set the ignition timing with the service connector jumpered.
Mechanical timing is set with the timing marks on the crank pulley/gear and the camshaft gear.
TPS is set and checked with a multimeter.
Most likely you messed up more than you helped things out.

Re: Throttle Position Sensor?
well, i rechecked everything today.
-throttle cable
-timing
-unplugged and tried to set the idle. only got it to bounce between 700-1000 rpms
then ... i attempted to test the throttle position sensor
correct me if im wrong but i put the black wire (ground) to the batterys ground
and the red tip into each of the wire ends and read the volts
Green Wire read 3.1-3.4 (fluctuated often)
Red Wire read .23-.25 (not too much fluctuation)
Yellow Wire read .8 (didn't fluctuate hardly ever)
but when i held the pedal at WOT
none of the numbers changed nor are they correct
... is this do to the fact that i didn't put the read tip on "bare wire" or would that not make a difference?

Re: Throttle Position Sensor?
im going to try to get around to testing the wires straight out of the ECU to see whether or not its the ECU that has gone bad.
thank you for the post on the ECU testing, i tried the Search Feature and i couldn't find anything. I guess i just haven't gotten the full swing of things on this website yet. haha

Re: Throttle Position Sensor?
so after a while of testing and trying the easy little stuff. i went to a commonly known Honda used parts junkyard called "Beavers Honda" and bought the throttle body and throttle cable off of an 89 CRX. took it home that night, cleaned it all up, took off the cut hoses from removal and replaced it on my D15B and everything turned out great. no more surging idle. no more bucking when i let off the gass or bucking when i let into the gas.
tuned it by my manual and today it's still doing great :]
problem fixed.
