Taking off the A/C

I have an 89 crx si with zc and I wanted to take off the A/C as I don't ever use it. Anybody know what I can do to make this happen with ease? Are there any relays or grounds that I need to worry about as I"m doing this. Anybody with some info please email me at Fyxxter@hotmail.com. Thanks for your help.

JUST TAKE OUT THE FAN AND CUT THE LINES AT THE FIREWALL WITH A HACK SAW ITS CAKE WORK AND IF YOU WAN YOU CAN PULL OUT THE CONDENSER IN THE FRONT YOU DONT AHVE TO MESS WITH ANY WORES OR ANYTHING JUST RELEASE ALL THE FREON OUT FROM THE COMPRESSOR http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emexclaim.gif http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emhammer.gif

Follow your A/C lines and disconnect all the components attached to it. Remember to remove the condenser and fan as well. Here's a pic from my DA. http://www.lyonel.8m.com/cgi-bin/i/images/P0001387.jpg

yeah if you vent the refrigerant into the air make sure no one sees you its illegal and theres a big fine for that shit.

Re: Taking off the A/C (FyxxterZC)

I just did this on my 89 CRX DX hybrid... and I live in Florida! The damn compressor braket alone is good for a tenth!! Anyway, I started by pullin the compressor and large lines (running from comp. to firewall) as my unit was outa freon anyway. Then I pulled the AC fan. My condesor coil wuz located in front of my radiator. I just waited till I wuz pulling the radiator anyway for my engine swap (ZC) and removed the fat bitch then. I followed the wire that came off the fan and just removed everything it wuz attached to (after doin research, a bong rip, and disconectin the battery)... On mine, the AC harness wuz seperate from all the other wires making the job easy, you may find that the AC harness runs into the firewall near the two hoses that also go there... go git em! I went inside the car, removed the glove comp. door, horizontal metal brace, and evaporator coil box (3 bolts, 2 braces...easy) then dropped the box down and pulled the wires through with it. I split the box open by removing the pop pins (you'll see) and screws. Remove the hefty coil and throw it far away, might as well pitch the power robbing styrofoam in there too. The AC harness on mine unplugs under the carpet beneath the black evap. coil box you just removed. As a precaution I pulled the AC fuse... forever <insert evil laugh here> Put the box back together and reinstall and yer done! It's a lot easier and fun than all this sounds, Good luck!

Haha. Now I need my heater working. My rex is my daily driver and it gets cold here in the NC mountains/"foothills". Thanks for all the info.
