Default Steering gear bearing

Hope the pics show up
Has anyone tried to replace #38? If so how did you remove it from the rack & where might I get something to replace the inner lock (#7)?

If I remember correctly I replaced the bearing and reused the clip.

The inner retainer is a pinched ring.

I will review the quaife quick steering replacement gear, perhaps find some info there.

I'm sure I can remove it, but not without destroying it. I can not find a replacement for it. I'm not putting a quaife in it I'm just looking for the replacement retainer and some info on pulling the pinion bearing out. All the old info on quaife quick gear seems to be gone now.

I don't remember not being able to reuse it. Just pull it out and try. Reform it if needed.

Just a follow up post for anyone else attempting this.
Cut the ring out and sourced some external lock rings from McMaster-Carr.
I believe the lock ring is to keep the bearing in place during installation.
Played with some heating and cooling combinations to get the pinion shaft out and back in the rack. Same game to remove the old bearing and install the new one.
