hi i have a 91 crx hf 5speed, i seem to have a random power loss it comes and goes. sometimes i take off and it has power, other times i take off and seems sluggish and then suddenly the power comes back. happens at random rpm ranges. i keep the fuel tank above 1/2 full at all times, never below 1/2.
also when im at cruising speeds, lets say under 2000 rpm in any gear for a couple minutes, the check engine light comes on, but goes off shortly after. any ideas?

I'm having the same prob with my 99 ex (AT). It feels like I'm about to run out of gas then power comes right back. I had some popping before I decided to change my spark plugs, but the problem still occurs. In fact it happened tonight.

I don't have the check engine light come on like you though. If someone gives you useful info let me know. I'll check back on this tomorrow. Hope you find the root of prob.

ignition coil?

replaced cap and rotor, seems i had a broken pin to the coil. changed the cap and seem to have gotten alot of the power back, but still does the random power loss and recovery.

ill get a coil and replace, let you know the results. thanks for the input.

Could be a coil but they are usually more consistent when failing, like under a load or when hot. I've seen the TPS Sensor go on those models (Throttle Position Sensor) without throwing a code. You can put a meter on the TPS and check for dead spots...

Sounds like an ignitor module on it's way out.
