shifter options with 3" exhaust

i have a 3" exhaust and the one short shifter i tried hit the exhaust because it extends down much farther than the stock shifter below the ball of the shifter.

The bushings are shot in the bottom of the shifter so i am looking to replace it with something that utilizes bearings instead. all of the bearing type shifters seem to extend down to far however.

thanks for the help

Re: shifter options with 3" exhaust

If they all seem to extend down too far, go with another style. If you're determined to run this style, have some exhaust work done. Problem solved

Ive seen people cut around the stabilizer and space it up hard to explain but I hope this helps a little. This wont help much if you cant weld... Just trying to help

you could always just cut the extra length off if you arent going to use it

Re: shifter options with 3" exhaust

i guess my question should have been, are there any shifters out there that are compatible with a 3" thermal?

Re: shifter options with 3" exhaust

Im not sure about a shifter that will fit but i would mark where the shifter hits and heat the pipe up with a torch and put a dent in it. Probably wont kill the performance with a 3" pipe.

^^^that would kill the scavenging properties of the exhaust pipe and the exhaust wont flow through it as well.

there is no scavanging after the turbo. If it's n/a either you suck or good job.

Re: shifter options with 3" exhaust

You should call Thermal and the company that made your shifter and complain to them. Sounds like they have poor manufacturing if they cannot make parts that are compatible with other parts. the fact that you have to make this thread doesn't speak well for these companies.

/sarcasm

(Note to anyone else reading - this is an inside joke to the OP who likes to blame problems caused by ignorant customers on the actual manufacturers themselves.)

LOL @B18, gs. Anyways, i would think the best solution would be to take a sawzall and cut right where shifter meets exhaust, don't throw this option out yet because you have to cut the exhaust! IT WLL WORK GREAT. Then grab a small 45 degree bend and either weld or clamp in place. It will do nothing to the performance and it solves your problem.

Well you're a troll. Trolls annoy me around here. I don't care if you go trolling outside of tech and model specific forums.

Sounds like you should have done some research before you opted to buy a short shifter and/or your exhaust.
