RIP to my daily.. =( pics inside
Going 35 mph when a Rav4 decided to cut a left turn and head on collide.
360,000 miles.. totaled 3 times (prior) .. D16z6 swapped. Killer full stereo. 1700 watts to pair of 10's and full component infinity all around ran off an oldschool jl audio slash amp.
I don't think there's anything to save this time Even the block is broken.
Wear your seat belt kids.

I don't know what to do next tbh. I have a ported Z6 head on the bench rebuilt and waiting.. A Z6 block torn down and came back from the machine shop.. Half way done on a 250-300hp turbo build.. and now I have no chassis.

I just put insurance on my 95 Del Sol and filled it up tonight. =\
Will the manual peddle assembly fit from my 89 civic into the Del Sol? I hate the auto trans in it.

You'd also benefit from 'upgrading' to a hydro trans. Only downside is that shiftlinkage....

What benefit would I get in a hydro trans? I haven't had one since I got rid of my Z28 15 years ago.. I have three good cable trans laying around currently. SI, LX and now the DX in my busted car (if it didn't break something)

Gotta love negligent drivers who just don't give a **** or pay attention that can destroy your dream car in 3 seconds. A minor inconvenience for them, a life fuckup for you.
If you have the money to spare and really want another clean EF, I'd consider reaching out to JapaneseClassics.com and seeing if they can source you a clean complete car. That's only if you really wanted another one though, it'd cost you at least $8K+. Just seems easier to go that route these days than trying to find a LHD USDM model that hasn't been beaten to ****.

how many head on collisions are seat belts rated for? lol swap that **** out with my dead car....

I am always very sorry to see bad things happen to Hondas of that era.
In many ways, Honda couldn't do anything wrong back then. I still like those cars and miss their simplicity and general overall excellence.
Very best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sell the block and get a new Type R. Dealer gouging is not as bad right now.
Yeah, those bruises are going to darken before they get better. And unfortunately, won't be around for Halloween. Good luck with the replacement - I hope that insurance is kind to you.

God damn that sucks! I know the feeling, just totaled my 07 MK5 a couple weeks ago and she was my daily. Now instead of keeping the 90 SI Hatch in the garage, it's now my daily.
I planned on just having the 4th Gen Hatch as a project car, but now it's my daily since I have nothing else. People don't seem to watch out for these smaller hatchbacks either!
Every single day I drive home from work I have to drive defensively like I'm on a bike! People always cutting me off without even realizing it. I don't even have the horn working right
now either so I can't even honk when they cut me off or start merging into my lane.. And what happened to people using turn signals for ***** sakes! #RAGE

Things are healing but mornings are the worst still. Stiff in all the wrong places when I wake up.
Start therapy next week. The Del Sol seems like it's going to work for a while. I got a power steering leak (slow) and well... basically an oil leak from everything hard to fix (rear main, etc)
Also need to replace the seals around the targa top. Did some searching for that but it's really difficult to figure out what parts to order from the Del Sol parts diagram. Oh, and expensive as hell.. =(
At least it runs good and has a pair of JL Audio amps i custom fiber glassed into the trunk and some infinity speakers all around.
Also got a set of HID lights I had to custom build for the car... Done right.

I also had a head on in my hatch back in 2011. Had to rethink my choice of daily driver. Still miss it but can't go through another crash like that in a car with no air bags. I even checked into trying to retro fit the car with air bags.....not a good idea at all.

six week later..
Knee still having issues and a lump on my neck that'll take a few more months to heal.
Undecided on what to look for my next daily or a kick *** build.

RIP EF . Hope it all gets better man. Glad it wasn't worse. Have you had a consult with an orthopedic surgeon for x-rays/mri? I tore an ACL a number of years ago and had reconstructive surgery done in my right knee. X-rays showed nothing but the MRI caught the half-torn ligament flopping around and confirmed everything else was fine. The doc did such a good job that the right knee is somehow more stable than the left to this day...
WOW that pillar collapsed. Not gonna lie, this thread inspired me to replace my 90 hatch ASAP with a 2017/18. My SO is fine with me turning it into a build, but wants me in a new DD (oh darn). Things are just getting good in life so we both kind of want me to live.

It's knocking on 3 months now and the right knee still has a few issues. Following up with an orthopedic surgeon next week for a better look.
Now that winter is starting in I set the Del Sol away for winter and using a AWD chevy van. As much as I wanted to finish the build I started on the D16z6, I might just throw all 3 honda's I have away for parts/cheap and move on to a safer DD. Wife would be happy to see that.
Thinking maybe a RSX type S.

Three months and a week later. Orthopedic Surgeon issued me 6 more visits of physical therapy to get my knee cap to ride where it's supposed to.
