RHD CRX build thread (my first build thread)
Well this is the first build thread ive ever attempted to make, ive been building/rebuilding/tearing back to pieces, the same 90 ef hatch since around 2006 and its about time to put the hatch away for winter. My friend was willing to sell his EF7 project car for a price i couldnt pass up, so i jumped on it... here is a few quick pics of how i picked up the car/parts this afternoon (10-6-12)
Here is the first haul of parts i picked up, definitely going to have to make another trip to get the body panels and window glass
The guy who sold me the car had bought quite a bit of OEM parts, im gonna need a bigger garage.. FML

Yeah thanks! It's a pretty clean shell already, the previous owner had the majority of the body work done, so I'll be going over what they have done until I'm happy with the shell, and hope to get some paint in the engine bay and the inside of the chassis before the years end

Nice, got to love a new build. What are your plans for it? Is it a restoration. I noticed you have an engine there too are you dropping in the d series motor or you have different plans for it? Look forward to seeing this shell transform!

Thanks!! Yeah I'm pretty excited to dig into it, it's going to be as close to an factory Ef7 as I can get it! And yeah the zc is going it stock for now, wishing I had the LSD trans but that might happen down the road here! I'll be getting into this project pretty soon, just trying to finish the drag season out first!

Re: RHD CRX build thread (my first build thread)
well drag season is finally over and my ef is in storage for the year, so finally time to dig into the CRX a little bit! I got the car moved home to my personal garage and opened a few boxes and layed out a few boxes to see what im working with, this is only a small portion of what i have, it literally seems endless what the previous owner had purchased and set aside for this built!
power mirror
clear oem corner lights
small details such as the little sticker that goes inside the gas door
all new packaged window trim seals
not sure what this is from, but appears to be a road flare, even found a packaged oem flare holder
super clean ef7 tailights (he said these were difficult to find in good condition)
super clean ef7 tailights (he said these were difficult to find in good condition)
ill start digging into more stuff tomorrow! and start getting the car prepped to paint the engine bay and inside..
i have quite a bit of experience with this generation of chassis from previous cars, so hopefully this car will breeze together! Heres a couple quick pics of my other cars
heres my daily driver, RT4WD EE wagon that i swapped in a JDM sohc zc and put on some lowering springs
and my 90 ed hatch that i use for drag racing, (ive owned this car for 6-7 years or so)

It looks like you really know how to get intimate with your cars. I cannot wait to see how pristine this car is going to be when finished.

Very awesome project. I love your other cars, too. Long live the wagon! It will be quite a collection of little Hondas when you're done!
Also, that road flare is really cool. I want some of those.

Re: RHD CRX build thread (my first build thread)
well that was a long night, had a buddy come over and help me clean and sand the underside of the rex, he also helped my apply the first coat of the spread I used for undercoating..
buddy of mine told me he had seen this used before and turned out good so i figured id give it a shot! kit cost about a hundred bucks... the roller kinda sucks.. so dabbing with a strong bristled 2in paint brush was the technique applied
(first coat)
let the first coat flash for about 3 hours, in the meantime we prepped the rear fender wells with some scotchbrite and prep all.. and layed a fat coat of satin black
just finished the second coat of liner about 11pm tonight, its super messy to work with (obviously because its meant to be applied downward not upward lol)

****'s Busted
She'll be sweet when done. Just open that door at Nei's when you're spraying this one. Can't wait to ride shotty and hold a steering wheel while I pretend to swerve at unsuspecting motorists.
I'm coming by tonight to check this jalopy out.

Re: RHD CRX build thread (my first build thread)
Got a bit done tonight on the front of the chassis.. pulled the rack and spindle assemblies off and prepped the front fender wells for self etching primer in certain spots and lay some undercoating!
a wire brush, some 80 grit, and some prep all got these all ready to coat!
only decided to lay 1 coat of liner this time because the existing stuff was still pretty intact.
threw some fans on the front of the car and starting cleaning the outside of the chassis and inside for a bit.. the whole car was coated in nasty nasty cat hair and years of dust!!

Awesome! I've wanted to do this for some time now, but I don't have a big enough work space. Once I get a bigger house with a garage, build time it is! Props sir, I'll be watching
