Relocated battery blowing fuses
Relocated battery tonight. Ran 2ga from trunk to distribution block, 2ga from distro to starter and 6ga from distro to fusebox. The distro has (2) 60A glass fuses (one for starter, one for fusebox). The fuse for the starter blew after 2 sec of cranking. Does the starter need to be fused? If so what size fuse do i need? Thanks

im sure your starter is pullin WAY more then 60amps.
I've seen a few pics of relocated battery dist blocks.. they are solid blocks, not fused.
you can either swap the blocks. or keep puttin larger fuses in there.
any1 know how many amps a starter actually draws?

I fused my battery itself at 100Amps. The starter is not fused, but because the battery itself is...you know. I splitted the cable under the hood to the starter, and one to the fusebox...

Yep, there's no fuse. Moved starter wire to the unfused side of distro and it finally started. Thanx

if you look at the rating on your battery it has a guage in cca? the cca stands for cold cranking amps, which can be as high as 650 or 1000 even, so that would be why it keeps blowing fuses. a starter draws an awfly high ammount of amps, way over 60, which is why a starter is not fused, sorry for the late reply but thats a auto teachers take on the situation.

You want a fuse close to the battery... If there is a short you want to cut it off as close to the battery as possible... I have a 150 amp fuse on my battery... Starts fine... It has blown before under certain conditions so I know it isnt too big...

My fuse is about 1' away from battery. What conditions blew your fuse?
