really bad idle sometimes, and of course blue smoke
car i got is an 89 civic w/ a d15b2. she smokes pretty bad over 3k rpm, but since shes my beater, i dont take her above 3k anyways. she gets good gas mileage, 35+mpg each fill up.
anywho, shes got a really bad idle sometimes. bout 50% of the time she idles between ~400-1000rpm. but sometimes, she'll go up to 2k rpm, then start doing a surging idle between 1k-1.5k rpm (like the IACV is out).
the only thing that makes me wanna rebuild the engine is the fact that despite the issues i have, the car gets really frickin good gas mileage. so its rebuild the engine or do a swap. theres a guy that has a b18a1 that im seriously considering getting and rebuilding (the price is SOOO worth it).
i was going to replace the axles/boots in her anyways since they look to be the orig. axles/boots that came with the car (look really worn), so if i got that b18a, i could just get the appropriate axles.
course id rebuild that engine before i stuck it in my car... so either way, SOMETHING is getting rebuilt.
would it matter if the b18a has been sitting for 2 years, possibly with fluids in it? i dont wanna buy something i cant rebuild...

i went ahead and purchased a new OEM IACV incase mine is crapping out. im going to pretty much replace every sensor that i can see till the idle issue goes away. as far as the engine is concerned, someone sell me a d15b2 block w/ pistons
