Project smooth EF

here is my project, currently the fenders and bumpers will get painted to match car. the mouldings are still up in the air I am not sure whether or not to paint the mouldings. I will be getting some seats IF the guy ever gets them to me. as for the engine, a wire tuck, paint on the VC and Intake,

Performance upgrades are in the air, A mini me is a strong Possibility. It will not get any form of turbo. i want NA, since it is a daily driver i need reliability. what are your thoughts, anyone who has a mini me let me know how you like it. aswell as other options, like can I do much with this motor.

looks great, performance wise do a mpfi swap before your wire tuck. Then the mini me, a cam, nice port and polish. You can do a ton and still have a reliable daily. Even turbo can be reliable but sinc eyou said u dont want it i wont go any further. if you want opinions on the painting of the mouldings, i would say just the bumpers. keeping the strip black around the top of the bumpers and down the sides, then in the middle of the black part, put down a nice red pinstripe you can get at any auto parts shop (autozone/adavanced) that is what I would do. If you do paint the bumpers though, use a flex additive so it doesnt crack when it flexes (duh) thats all i have to say. Nice project!!

get on that qp rust!

RedEfGoKart 05-09-2007 07:53 PM

THe rust will get it's due attention, just need to get some other areas up to par first. I hate the black fenders, plus i dont want them to start to rust.

Black rims = keep black moldings
I've always felt it helps tie the car together. New drivers seat https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif
Looks like you've already lowered it. If you didn't do the shocks then you should because they're either blown or going to be soon.

and what gator88 said https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

ENERGY SHIFT LINKSGE BUSHINGNS. I need to get this done tomorow since I have an Auto-X on sunday.

RedEfGoKart 05-15-2007 09:12 PM

Well i placed 1st in my class at the auto X this sunday.

And an update for the car's progress, I have a line on a Mpfi swap, the guy has an entire head off of an si, intake resistor box, and wiring harnes. I hope this deal doesnt fall through.

crazykamper 05-15-2007 09:35 PM

nice!! good job on the auto x..... good luck with swap, if it is meant to be. lol.

RedEfGoKart 05-16-2007 06:15 AM

thanks, i did run well but found out I need a little more umff, SO if the Mpfi works out I will be happy.
Does any one know how much of a gain i can see, seat of the pants feel or hp/tq numbers. I have been told that It will make the motor come alive... so to speak.

Like Gator said, turbo can be reliable. I had a z6, 9 lbs, stock motor and daily drove it for over 2 years. Don't just assume having a turbo=not reliable.

RedEfGoKart 05-19-2007 05:59 PM

Well I spent about 8-10 hrs doing paint work between lastnight and today.
Last night I started with the mouldings, I had a few rough spots so had to sand down and prime them, then wait a couple hours before putinga coat of paint on them.

then got up this morning and got started on the fenders. Initially I was just going to jam the fenders, then decided that I might as well paint the whole thing. FINALLY all of the fenders are red and match the car perfectly.

here is were I started last night.

https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1769.jpg
and this is how i left her last night. looks awsome, took alot of time for just a few mouldings.
then this morning this is what I started with.
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1786.jpg
about an 1/2 hour later this is how it looked.
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1788.jpg
second coat of paint on...https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1792.jpg
had to move to the front yard for some more space.
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1790.jpg
Almost back together-
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1795.jpg

and finally this is what I have now, I love it, the red mouldings look great(much better than the Black)
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1801.jpg
https://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k...r/100_1800.jpg

I will still need to sand and buff it to a high gloss, but Ill have to wait a couple days till the paint has had a chance to cure-
Ill have to get on painting the bumpers now....

MPFI Is coming on wed. Ill have to find a time to do the swap.

hybrid1990crx 05-19-2007 07:29 PM

wow that looks nice. sucks that rust has to be eating the car, my teg is getting there.

what did you use to spray?

RedEfGoKart 05-20-2007 06:28 AM

I didnt have enough time for anythig else so I used DUpont single stage, Came out prety well. it is only temporary, till i get the time to do the base clear, so i wont have to worry it fading. it wont be on ther that long.

RedEfGoKart 05-21-2007 03:11 AM

Just some good news. The MPFI will be in on WED for sure. May have the Swap Done Next Weekend.

The sooner the better...

RedEfGoKart 05-25-2007 01:57 PM
