**First make sure you aligned the cams and the crank to TDC Corectly... if you did and its still making a "bubblely" noise then it a posibility....
you could have spun 3 of the 4 rod bearings causing the piston to hit the plugs.
have you checked you oil to see if there are any metal shavings.. had this problem once before the engine started to sound like a WRX .. and RPM climbed very slow. i dont know if this sounds like your problem, but if you have changed the head, and gasket, check that engine is at TDC ,but its still doing the same thing.. try dropping the oil pan and looking at the rods bearings.
