Pace Setter?
im thinking about buying a pace setter header, and pace setter catback exhaust from Summit. i was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with them. does anyone know what the exhaust sounds like? also do you know how much this would increase performance? i will be putting a test pipe in there instead of a cat. so if you have any estimates it would be appreciated. these would be going on an 89 CRX Si. if you have, or know someone who has these, please IM me or email me or something.

Re: Pace Setter? (emanon5k)
I had a pacesetter on my CRX si and I raced it in auto-x for 3 years. The performance is fine, the WOT doesn't sound as good as it should, but I would buy another one just because its the only exhaust that I have used that doesn't kill your ears inside the car at highway speeds.

If you can't afford the 'big stuff' new, buy it used. Used is better than Pacesetter.

I've been running the pacesetter catback on my car for almost 2 years now I believe. It's fine. The tip is kinda gay, but hell, the tip on a thermal exhaust is just as gay.
The piping itself is 2" mandrel, so for a n/a sohc like mine, then there's no problem with that. The muffler will start to rust here and there though, nothing too major.. Could be salt damage from Maine winters for all I know.
And the muffler, well, it's no different than say a flowmaster cuz it's baffled just like that. Onlything better you could get would be something that's straight through and most oval exhausts are not anyway.
Mine has served it's purpose so far. I'm getting ready to bump up to 2.25inch piping shortly so I'll probably get a dif muffler but all in all, it's not as bad as everyone says.
As for the headers, no clue.

all of you that are saying its garbage, please dont reply again unless you have first hand experience with the product you are writing about.
i've had my pacesetter catback for several years now, and considering i got it for $120 shipped brand new, i cannot complain. the piping is mandrel bent and of decent quality. my only complaint is that it's a little loud. i may have a resonator welded in down the road since it only comes with a muffler. but like i said, you cannot beat this price for a brand new mandrel bent cat back. if i had $500 to spend on a stainless one, then yes i would choose the stainless. however, this has suited me find performance wise.

I had one of those Heddman/Chikara headers for awhile, it held up awesome(only get the ceramic coat). It seemed fine for a cheap header. Get a custom crush bent 2.5 to save money too.
The pacesetter stuff just doesn't seem to hold up(esp. the painted stuff) and it has a very metallic sound to me. Its just an opinion though.

HNDAPWR : i was gonna get a crush bent one from a local muffler shop but for a magnaflow muffler and the piping they want 225.......and i figured i should just get a mandrel bent catback and pay alot less, for header and all i will only pay like 75-100 more than to just get the crush bent exhaust, which they use shitty tubing so it rusts quick cause i have a shitty otto racing muffler on there that they put on and it is all rusted

Re: (emanon5k)
I liked my PS exhaust on my first gen..thought it sounded cool...then I bought their header, and it was nothing but problems afterwards...first I had to port-match it cause it was soo far off, then when I put it on it hung real low..power was *OK* but it was a 4-1 header and it was all top end power.
btw exhaust lasted 5 years before the muffler rusted out of its flange(easy fix)
