Is your speedo hooked up and working correctly? Is your engine warm? What ecu are you using?

if you have a B-16 and the Vtec does not kick in you will have codes to reference off of.

What are the code(s)?

There is a plug bolt on the head right by the VTEC solenoid that is for checking the oil pressure in the head. Number 18 in the pic

might be clogged the vtec solenoid has a filter.

or your oil pressure senor at the Oil filter is fucked up.

Or it can be our Pickup coil.

first of all is the LOW engine OIL light On?

if is then its the pick coil 99% off the time its in the Oil Pan.

if its the Oil Pump then u need to do some work

How do you know VTEC isn't engaging?

Double check if the solenoid is functioning by touching the vtec wire to the +12v terminal on the battery (with the engine off) - if you hear a *click*, then it is functioning. Checking the vtec solenoid filter also is a good idea (as mentioned above). It's not too often that the vtec oil passageways would be clogged, but I guess it never hurts to check - to do so, you'd obviously have to pull out some of the valvetrain components...

Good luck with everything, and keep us posted!

the vtec solenoid is working because when i hooked up the oil pressure gauge to the vtec test port and we went around the block as soon as we hit 5200 rpms the gauge read 57 psi but at idle or before we hit 5200 the gauge read zero .

We don't hear vtec engagment but could it be possible that the transition to the bigger lobes is so smooth that we don't hear it , it has a tanabe exhaust , dc headers, high flow cat,aem intake, and toda spec B cams with toda springs and crower retainers , the tone in the exhaust is the same all the way to redline.

The water and oil pump are new and there is no oil light or check engine light coming up i even checked the ecu for codes flashing nooooooothhiiinggg. help
