need part # or source for ECU connector pins
hey guys
adding a wire to my ecu, and I need to know what the part number is for the pins in the connector (on the harness side).
The ecu is a PM7 in a '91 Civic Si, and I just discovered that Canadain built Si's don't have a ELD (electric load detector);
this caused a code 20 on my '90 PM7, so I am adding the eld from the ZC harness. Also, has anybody ever added a remote
ecu light somewhere easier to see, like in the change compartment or something? I'm getting tired of pulling up the carpet
and removing the protective cover over the ECU (JDM ecu mounts upside down).
thanks

Re: need part # or source for ECU connector pins (gregv)
I hear that about the light relocation. I had to source the pins from another harness plug. I havent done my operation yet, will the pin connectors just slide right in my plug? I can hack the old plug to get them out, I'm just worried about it fitting in. I dont throw codes, so I wont even be able to tell if my 2nd o2 is being read or not by the ecu .

Re: need part # or source for ECU connector pins (ricodemus)
recalling my electronics days, you need a special tool to get pins out of a connector,
but they usually slide in without one. The pins generally have two metal tabs that
keep it in; these have to be compressed to get it out. No problem usually, but
these pins are pretty small
good luck

one these older cars, the pins are pretty easy to pull out. i use a screwdriver made for adjusting seeing glasses. its pretty damn small. a jeweler's screw driver would work, too. or go to radio shack and get their small screw driver set.
anyways, on the honda connectors, there is usually a plastic tab that needs to be released for the pin to come out. look at an non-pinned slot to see what the tab looks like and what you need to do to release the pin.
its not that bad of a job once you see what you need to do.

there is info on the bottom of this page with pictures on how to remove pins. as far as sourcing new pins, just go to the junkyard and take a few. removing the pins is pretty easy after you've done a couple.
