Icon2 Need help with my exhaust?!?!

Hey guys I recently finished swapping a JDM B16A into my 91 Civic Si. I have a newer OEM JDM Type R header but someone decided to saw off the flange and it looks like they welded up some pipe to extend the end. Also the cat is welded to the cat back exhaust. I would like to cut the cat off, weld a three bolt flange to the cat-back, and a two bolt flange to the header and run a test pipe in between the two. Heres the parts I am considering. What do you think. Any suggestions are appreciated.

-BLOX 2-Bolt Flange
-E-Bay Test Pipe
-Vibrant 3-Bolt Flange
-Honda Paper Gasket

Exhaust is not rocket science... just do what you want to get it how you want. I seem to change my exhaust setup every month because all I do is tinker. I can weld, if you can’t just buy all the stuff you want then take it to a shop they will make it all work.

I just want to make sure I have the right parts before I head over there. I've used the test pipe before and was satisfied with it. Just want to make sure the flanges will match the rest of the set-up.

All else fails go to the exhaust shop and ask them what else you need man. They will tell you straight up.

Either way you gave no part numbers just some names. There could be a million different versions out there made by those manufactures...

Yea there could be a million, BUT THERE ISN'T!!! BLOX only makes ONE 2-Bolt 2.5" Flange for OEM JDM headers and Vibrant performance only makes ONE 3-bolt 2.5" universal flange. As for the test-pipe, I found it on ebay. I don't think for the $23 price tag they even bother putting part numbers on there. And this is why I put pictures, so people would know what I'm talking about. If you have no experience with these parts don't bother posting in my thread.

Does anyone know if the BLOX 2-bolt 2.5" header flange reduces to 2" where it bolts up to the test pipe? This is the size of the opening on the test pipe (header side). I want to make sure it will fit before i order it.

Ah yes... actually I am a Union Millwright and welding is my job. I work in the Steel Mills... I make all kinds of stuff considering and I have access to anything and everything you could dream of when it comes to industrial equipment. I have been welding for almost 40 years now.

Oh sorry I did not answer your question; I was an apprentice for 3 years under the other Millwrights in the early 1970's. Either way I am one of the few that is State Certified and have been for a number or years.

Yes are they offered through a vocational program or do you mean through a technical college of some sort?

Most places (especially college) have classes you can take to prepare yourself for different qualifications. If you are serious I would start with 1g, skip 2g, take 3g, skip 4g and 5g, and if you get pretty good and are comfortable after a lot of practice then do 6g.

Take Stick or MIG welding. You will learn more from Stick welding since it is a lot harder then pointing and shooting a MIG…

The courses are good for learning... even though I weld all the time I put my son though them because they give you a lot more then "here is how you strike an ARC". They teach you what goes on behind it all and you get books and materials as well as a LOT of free welding (well it is factored into the class price of course).
