My V8 crx build! yep its real
Well, I've been posting my writeup on superhonda's forum and i thought id share this with the honda-tech guys...
Here it goes....
I have an 89 crx. I used to have a b16a that was amazing and a lot of stuff done..i wont go into detail.... Then i boosted it with a custom kit i fabricated using a DSM T25. I made a custom wastegate actuator (threaded) so i could adjust the boost pressure. I ran the b16 at 7 psi while using a Field air/fuel and vtec controller. I ripped Z28 camaros and 06 mustang gt's with it...then one day going 2 school, I got on the gas a little and my turbo spiked to 15psi... and my head warped ...
So while taking apart the engine, i looked at the car and was like i want 2 do something rediculous w/ this car.
So I started my chevy 355 crx build
I took the whole front suspension assembly and put it into the front for more support and strength, i also used a supra independent rear setup (stock lsd)... i then made a custom subframe and im in the process of completing my rollcage... the engine is a chevy 355 (350 bored .30 over) with keith black forged pistons 11.5:1 comp., gm performance heavy duty rods, chromoly crank, alliance race cam, chevy 202 heads with dual spring valve springs, heavy duty lifters, edelbrock torquer manifold, and holley 850cfm carb...
For the body, its a one off drift front bumper, tuner 2 sideskirts i custom fit and fiberglassed 2 fit the crx, and custom rear add ons i fiberglassed..Also f1 style fiberglass fenders, and custom hood w/ molded eyelids... also the rims are gram lights 57 pros and i have a wings west rear spoiler... heres the pics... im sure theres more im forgetting so ask me

it's too bad you sacreliged a CRX by doing this but at least it will be unique and obviously fast as hell.... Good luck it looks like it's coming along pretty well.

I've heard about these from people who get smoked by these suckers on at red lights. Often with something like a Mustang's V-8. From what I've heard, the only way you can tell these are mounted is that the firewall is placed way back, so the seating looks really awkward from the outside. Other than that there's no way you can tell.
Good luck on the conversion!

A buddy of mine did that with an 87 and completely fabricated a custom frame with a 383 with a 500 shot TH400 and a 10 bolt with 12 inch drag radials. It was pretty sick hopefully yours come out good.

This is definitely something I want to keep an eye on, I'm on a team for the '09 Grassroots Challenge, and we've talked about doing something like this...

looks good. subscribed.
Those are some crazy brake lines lol.
I'm kind of surprised that this hasn't been done before, it was only a matter of time. Reminds me of the BMW M3 GTR. I'm just waiting for BMW to step up and put that V10 in their 1-Series.
