Motor mount not straight after engine swap, is it normal
Hi all,
Just finished my engine swap a few days ago. Everything went fine, only regret / complaint I have is about motor mounts. I got some cheap mounts off ebay, and they don't look like quality stuff. They feel soft, and obviously they use less material than OEM ones.....And the small front in the front, I have to use impact to force the bolts in to deform the sheet metal on the mount so that it can conform with the contour of the transmission...
The result turned to be ok. Engine starts and car drives fine...
I can feel slightly the car goes to the right......Before swap the car goes perfectly straight... However, even if the engine is not sitting at the oringal spot, the suspension geometry is never moved, the car should still go straight... Maybe I am paronoid
And look at my pictures.,, the right engine mount is not centered in the bracket......
What went wrong? Is it normal?

You shouldn't have deformed the bracket to make it fit. You should have improvised and dropped in the motor from a new angle or used a jack on the bottom to push the motor up. But in all honestly i don't think you have anything to worry about. The motor is bolted in on all mounts. Like you said though, the ebay mounts use cheap material like rubber instead of poly. So you might feel that flex.

what engine did you swap in? and did you have to put the 88-91 block bracket on that engine?
