motor mount mania
(i posted this topic in the EG forum and nobody had a clue...maybe you 4th gen people might have an idea?)
Last week my d16z6 threw a rod - RIP life goes on. I picked up a low miles SOHC ZC motor (also known as the d16a6 pm6 but stamped ZC) for cheap!
I swapped on my z6 head and changed everything over. (ala mini-me swap)
My problem is the motor mounts! The driver side upper motor mount, the one that connects to the block under the cam sproket and between the timing belt, is different. My (93 civic SI) z6 mount connects to the ZC motor just fine, but its tilted 10-15 degrees clockwise so then the motor mount doesnt line up with the frame correctly.
Have any of you ran into this problem putting z6 motors into your 4th gen civic/crx's?
I looked at a d15b7 motor and it looks like its also tilted like the ZC/A6.
Does anybody know anything about this?
What i ended up doing is just using the top bolt in the mount so that its tilted at the right angle. I really dont feel safe having the mount loose like that though - id like to fix it. The motor runs great though.
thanks,
liam

Re: motor mount mania (liam821)
Yep, it's tilted, and that's the best you can do. Even when you install an OBD1 motor in an EF, it's tilted a little. On a SOHC setup without the use of a halfshaft, it really doesn't matter, just don't try and use poly inserts or else it will throw off your shifter too much and make it grind a little.

ummmmm
use the ( timing belt side) motor mount bracket from the motor that was originally in the car. and transfer it on to the new motor. I've installed a 97 dx motor in an ef with no problems just used all ef mounts and drivers side motor mount bracket. Fits and sits straight. HTH

Re: ummmmm (civicwagonman)
thanks for all the ideas. What a pain in the butt.
Do you know if the 92-95 D15 is tilted the same way? I was looking at a d15 block and it looks similar to the ZC.
