Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
alright its update time
first things first i had to get the car insured and licened
after that was done i hit the junkyards looking for some 15 inch steelies
off the 7th gen civic and some saturns i found all four and bought only the wheels
for 40 bucks
and took a wire wheel to them and resprayed them in a gloss black
ordered 4 new rp18 tires in a 195/55 /r15
for 200 bucks
the old wheels that were on there i sold for 100 bucks
they were 15inch konigs
and i spent about 3 hours looking for a clean set of hub caps
found them for 25 bucks shipped
then the konig wheels had those gurilla lock nuts so i got on the sick speed website and ordered all 8 for now of there extended lugs in STEEL not aluminum
there were 40 bucks for just 8 of them
so 80 bucks all together
so my whole wheel set up cost
245 in total
thats stellies
tires hubcaps
konigs wheels sold
and lugnuts
enjoy
in my opinion this is the real purpose of haveing extended lug nuts
so they can look normal with you have hubcaps haha

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
time we get a good look at the back end of the sedan
its in need of the right side tail light because of the hole in the middle of it
and im really thinking of doing something with the trunk lid
you see when i have to leave the garage and work on a car at someones house
id love to be able to put my tool box on the trunk lid, but that would scratch the hell out of it
its not like the paint job is perfect by any means
but i dont want to make it worse
also at the same time i feel like i want to strip the paint off and apply a few coats of bed liner on it
so i can lay things on top of it when im working
its just a thought for now thou
if we get a little lower
we can see this axle back exhaust that the old owner has installed
think its a megan muffler going to this weird shaped exhaust tip
but the pipeing is the stock 1 1/2 inch piping
then it gets bigger to the 2 1/4 inch muffler holes and then to 2 inch
it does sound nice
not too loud and not to quiet
you can take a raod trip with the car and not be annoyed by the noise it makes
but i plan to upgrade the exhaust by installing 2 inch pipeing all the way around
with a 2 inch inlet and outlet cherry bomb
going to a stock muffler at the end with the 2 inch inlet and outlets
keeping the noise down and not restricting too much flow
and also going with the da integra dual tip design
makeing the hole system look stock
anyway enough of the planning
and on to the upgrade!!
ive installed my yakima roof rack on the car already
i have my cargo carrier for road trips
and my basket for when working
also my home made bike attachment when i go out riding on the weekends
i use my roof rack alot
haha one time our water heater took a dump at my house
and i bought a new one down at home depot
those things wheigh about 150 pounds
and i strapped that thing on the roof of my 90 crx si
it was a sight to see
anyway on the sedan the weight limit on the roof rack according to yakima is 100 pounds
and i need a bare minumum of at least 200 pounds
i put alot of heavy stuff on my roof, not often things over 100 pounds but it does happen
like with the water heater
so to make sure these bars are not flying off when im on the road
i took a wire wheel to the paint and the q clips
and welded the clips onto the car
a 1 inch bead on all four, then i primed the finished product
should be able to handle about 300 pounds on the roof now
more than ill ever throw on there
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
you know those rear speaker covers are hard to find nowadays and
my passenger side one was broken so i took some epoxy to it and tried to get it to be one peace again
I was even tempted to make a copy of the design and make a stainless steel copy of it
but its a work car
so another time perhaps
it'll get the job done and that job is hiding my speakers
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
since i bought my car a few months ago my dash light have been out
i tried to fix the problem a few time already also
checked the fuse witch also powers the rear lights and its good
i checked the power to the cluster itself and the red wire has 2 volts going to it and it dosent light up any lights
so yesterday i had 2 hours to kill at the garage so i cut the red wire and the two front bulbs the ones with there own wiring i hooked up to my stereo light wire so i could see my cluster when driving at night
the lumination wire wasnt hooked up to my stereo either
so now my stereo lights up at night
and my two light bulbs at the cluster did light up but were still to dim so i removed the red tint cover thats under the white houseing and
im happy with the results
enjoy

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
the real problem to this is more than likely the switch that turns your lights on
but its turning all the other lights on still
so its not working as it should and it should be replaced and that just might fix my problem
but doing it this way is free
so its the route i took on this repair

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
i only have three installed right now but im going to end up with 4 of these bad boys
there 4 1/2 round and give out great sound
20 bucks for all 4
so today i took the civic in to the garage to get some work done
jdm d15motor making about 70 hp ^_^
on to the repair
i did a mpg test and a normal civic should get you about 30 mpg city and about 35 highway
so i put in 10 gallons of 91 octane
and the civic drank it dry after 197 miles city driving
thats about 20 mpg and thats no good
so today i set off to replace the gas filter because thats where you start when you have a problem like this
pretty dirty
got my fresh one installed with no problems
one thing that was interesting is that there should be 4 washer type deals that work as gaskets for the gas lines
each line gets two one on top and one on bottom
but i pulled 5 out of the old set up
and this old filter was resticting flow for sure
my rpms were at 800 before i did the filter change and after there sitting at like 1200
but the cars working great
so now i just gotta lower the rpms and enjoy my new found power.... maybe ^_-
and for those that would like to do this yourself
heres the part number

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
alright guys this is where i need to ask you guys a question
first yesterday i did the charcol canister delete along with the evap valve delete
right
even cut up the old bracket for the map and evap sensers and made it just for my map senser
looks good
my question is where do you put the hose that goes to the egr valve?
if you leave it open like this you well get a cel for it
code 12 egr valve
and if you put it on the intake it will stall the motor
but then again i did only try it on these two spots that i have blocked off
does anyone know where the egr hose goes after you do a charcol canister delete?

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
well thanks for no help honda tech haha
i figured out my egr valve check engine light problem
the hose goes to vacume then to the solinold and then to egr valve
thats the order so you dont get a cel
anyway had some free time tonight
so i got started on fitting my junkyard tow hitch i got for 15 bucks
so i got under the car and found the stock tow hooks
i even thought about useing them but said nah
then started doing some test fitting of my hitch
drivers side im going to have to cut the welds and slide it down about an inch and a half
center i like how its looking
im just going to strip the paint and weld in two hook ups on each side with 1/8th thick steel
so 1/4 inch with both on with a honda 14mm bolt threw the middle
passenger side is the worst
ima have to cut the welds on the hitch and move the hole over like 2 and a half inches
also the sedan has that hole right there thats bigger now because of someone elses mistakes
and so i hit the music and got to work
this is as far as i got till i called it quits for today
tomarrow ima make some more progress
going to clean up the rust and start welding the hitch together
while im at it i might even cut off that ugly exhaust tip and just run a normal pipe ^_-

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
remember when i told you guys that i thought i had a megan muffler
wrong i have a rusted out magna flow one
but it doesnt have an exhaust leak if you can beleave that
feel like marv from home alone2 when he falls into the basement
hes just like " wow what a hole" haha
anyway heres part one of my custom tow hitch fab
part one is lining everything up and doing a test tow
enjoy
yep thats an old bees nest in there
meaning that the car sat for a good while at some point
not perfect but that will get fixed on part two
stage one of this hitch build im going to leave it set at muffler height to see how much its going to flex
when im towing cars, it already towed around a ford ranger like this and passed my free way test ^_^
civic has a big power loss going up hills going 60 mph before the hill and on top of the hill going 45 mph
but anyway nothing got bent up or broke so next is to move on to stage two
and that is raising the hight so the hitch sits flush with the stock middle tow hook
and that well make it stronger and i wont be bottoming out on speed bumps
but stage two of the hitch build might not come for a good while
right now it works and its staying
next i have to get my trailer lights wired in
and i might install part or all of my exhaust this weekend or next
im also going to make that from scratch
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
I've seen a few hitches installed using only the rear hook on different year civics. I like your idea much better. It spreads the load throughout the rear frame. Can't wait to see this one finished.
Also, lol at that rust hole. Surprised it's not leaking.

yea that rust hole was one of few that ive seen that didnt leak haha
my tow hitch wont be redone for a good while
maybe after the holidays
it came off a 2000s mazda something at the junkyard,
i think it was a 626
anyway yesterday i finished fabbing up my new axle back exhaust peace
well get pictures soon
new exhaust peaces from a 91 da integra and a 86 ford mustang were used
and the end result is perfect for all my interstate driving that i do
nice and quiet but yet still upgraded the size of piping to 2 inch
way better than the 1 1/2 it used to have
right now my next upgrade or mod is going to be some cup holders that im thinking of making
ones that hang on my door panels right next to my vents
like this guy made a few years back

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
marry christmas everyone ^_^
i worked on christmas, i was bored at home and dicided to get the axle back exhaust made and installed
and after i took a little 40 mile ride and the civic is quiet now
i love it
so here we have a 84 ford mustang muffler
the 4 banger mustang back in the day
with 2 inch inlet and outlets
going to the 2 inch 90 bend to the rear bumper
and also have the 91 da integra rear control arm section that i had to take 4 inches off to fit in the sadan
and i also moved the hanger locations
and i think she looks sweet
the integra section wasnt 2 inch thou sadly
the pipe was 1.75 but still .25 bigger than stock so a upgrade it is ^_-

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
not having cup holders in the sedan is really bringing me down
so today i set on to make my own
i made two for the back and two for the front
and yea i did make them out of a peace of 2x4 wood
enjoy
made the holes as big as the 2x4 would let me
shell work just fine
now the rear one
now you cant just stop there
they need to be deep so your cups dont tip over when turning
before you drill skrews in its very important that you drill the hole out first
otherwise youll just crack the wood
now to mount this rear peace i had to drill a 5/16 hole right down the middle
and yes drill into the frame of the car to mount in car
now im just test fitting
no hole have been drilled into the car yet
and im not useing these cup holders yet
the rear one i like and will spray it black and round off the corners before i install
but the fronts i didnt like
and i think i might go a different way with the fronts
but heres some pics of what i was thinking of doing with them
and now im thinking of makeing a steel one up front
something like this
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
well i made them out of wood so im sure you could make some yourself ^_-
today i headed to the garage to get my rear spring installed
the stock rear springs on the sedan are too soft
when i have three people in the car, the back is pretty much slammed so i headed out today to fix that problem
in the rear im going to be installing stock front springs from my doner car i had a month or so ago
so step one is to remove the rear stuts
stock front spring
had to cut a link and a half off
so im installing cut springs
now heres the part where everyone seems to screw up when doing this
so heres some pics to show how to properly install these things
first its very important to put anti seize on your bolts
on this car i had to cut out three of the old ones but if you lube them then next time around you wont have that problem
now to install your cut spring the right way so its not twisted or risk coming out of the strut
insert like this
here you can see that i placed the spring in backards
so the top of the spring is now at the bottom of the strut
and sets nice and snug
and bottom of spring and top of strut
looks nice finished
oh and while i was doing this job today i found this behind my rear seat
dont know what it is
i didnt want to spend to much time finding out what it was either
but it did have a battery hooked up to it
12 volts and rechargable
but the battery was dead so whatever that thing is it wasnt working anymore
more updates soon
today i headed to the garage to get my rear spring installed
the stock rear springs on the sedan are too soft
when i have three people in the car, the back is pretty much slammed so i headed out today to fix that problem
in the rear im going to be installing stock front springs from my doner car i had a month or so ago
so step one is to remove the rear stuts
stock front spring
had to cut a link and a half off
so im installing cut springs
now heres the part where everyone seems to screw up when doing this
so heres some pics to show how to properly install these things
first its very important to put anti seize on your bolts
on this car i had to cut out three of the old ones but if you lube them then next time around you wont have that problem
now to install your cut spring the right way so its not twisted or risk coming out of the strut
insert like this
here you can see that i placed the spring in backards
so the top of the spring is now at the bottom of the strut
and sets nice and snug
and bottom of spring and top of strut
looks nice finished
