Map sensor, causing bogging?
I have a 91 crx hf, with a d16a6 swapped in, it has a slight hesitation and sometimes bogging when I bury the throttle, it bogs real bad it is cold, but not as bad when it is warm. Now I have been trying to pinpoint the problem for sometime, and I am pretty sure it is a vacuum problem. when I unplug the vacuum hose that leads to the map sensor, it has no hesitation or any bogging when I floor it until it throws the code 3 or 5(map sensor code). The map sensor never throws a code when it is all hooked up correctly, so I am confused. Any help would be appreciated.

hmmm... i wonder if the map sensor is not working at 100% and needs to be replaced. I would pick up a manual and start trouble shooting the sensor. if you have the extra $$$ or a friend that you can borrow the sensor from try that. its worth a try.

Yeah, my brother in-law has an Si of the same year sitting in my dads driveway, maybe I will pull that one and test it. I just didnt think that it would be malfunctioning without throwing a code. Who knows, stranger things have happened. Thanks for the info and bumps guys!

Well, I hooked up another sensor and it still acted the same, so that tells me that the map sensor is working. Would a faulty ecu cause this kind of problem? I have already replaced the cap and rotor, the fuel filter and spark plugs, so it is not the common problems. Anymore suggestions. Thanks.

I stuck my hf ecu back on and it runs alot better, and I still have the hf exhaust on cause I havent got enough cash for anything else yet, It might just be a breathing problem. The Si ecu seems to be giving to much gas to the engine. Once I get new exhaust I will see how it works then. Thanks for the replies guys.

How would I go about checking the TPS? I havent messed with the throttle position sensor at all.

get rid of that stock hf manifold asap
most restrictive one honda ever made
go to the boneyard get yourself an si or dx manifold for like 30 bucks

I have the Si exhaust manifold, but after the downpipe it is the stock hf exhaust piping all the way back. I know that is most of the problem, but I wouldn't think it would cause it to bog mainly just when it is cold. I will check out the tps. Thanks.
