Kumho 711 and 712....??
Im about to get some new wheels and tires for my 89 DX. Im going with 15s and im gonna go with 195/50s i think. my question is should i go with the Kumho Ecsta 711s or the 712s. the ratings are a little different, but the tread design on the 712 is way sweeter looking; dont know how much better it works though.
Anybody got any comments on either of these tires? Any other suggestions (brand or size-wise)? Im open to considering anything really, i just found a good deal on these.
Thanks for the time

I'm very happy with my yokohamas AVS 100s in 195/50/15. Grip is very good in both wet and dry. Altough I haven't really broken them loose much, they don't have any audible feedback. They're responsive and quiet on the freeway. I've only had them for about 3000 miles, but the wear seems pretty good to. The tires were i think around 50 each. I'd go with them for sure if you're looking for good grip at a good price.

I've got the 712's and so far they're a decent tire. One caveat if you live somewhere where it snows...the 712's are not good in snow/slush or when very cold.

I've had my 712's for a few months now and I like it. Good all around especially in the rain. I ran it once autocrossing and it performed pretty good. Cant really blame the tires for my shitty driving, hehe...from 1 to 5, I'll give it a 3 1/2 for performance and 4 1/2 for price...got mine for $50 each.

ive had the 712's before..they were awesome...but wore out in a little less than a year...i did use them for a full year autoxing..so thats probably why...they were awesome in the rain...i had some falken ziex after them...they didnt last quite as long ..and the grip wasnt as good as the 712...now i have the 711's they seem to be as good as the 712's but....i havnt autocrossed them yet...so im not sure if the grip is the same...but in the rain they are great..and ive been driving pretty aggressive with them..good grip so far...good ride..no squealing ever...if i were in your shoes..i'd buy the 711's from tirerack...they cost like half as much as the 712's...thats just me though...

Remember the 711 $30 something dollars are H rated tire. The one i got when i still had my slips are V rated 711 and i think they cost the same as 712 supra..

yea but that is just the speed rating right? i mean H= 130 mph. how often does an 89 DX with no compression in the 3rd cylinder get up that high... ??? lol
these are just cheap somethings to improve looks and help with rainy day driving. Something to get me til i can sell my coupe. Thanks alot for all the responses, but i think im gonna go with the 711s.
