Just in . . . Syncromesh FM

Well, I just dumped some GM Syncro Friction Modified yesterday, and I have to say, I want to have love relations with it. Before I put it in, I was starting to have problems putting it into gear, first, of course third gear, then second, fourth AND fifth. Well, I hear this stuff needs some 500 - 1000 miles to break in, but I drove it less than a mile and the gears started sliding into place.

I haven't tried it on any high rev applications like sitting at red lights and pretending I'm fast, but I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. So far so good. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I don't think that would be a healthy decision. Other than that disturbing image, I may have to give this stuff a try.

I did the whole change. Drained the old, put in almost two quarts of the new.

didyouhearthat 03-04-2004 06:28 PM

Re: (BioXide02)

Find a friend that works for GM, or it's probably going to cost you $10+. I saw it online for like $6-7 ea. when you buy six.

check out BG Syncro Shift II®

It's been tested to perform many times better than the GM syncromesh.

I believe 2 bottles for D-series, and 3 bottles for B-series.

i put some of the pennzoil synchromesh without FM from my work and it got rid of all my grinds. best fluid ive ever used, even better than redline MTL. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

ok now im confused, i thought that the synchromesh stuff was a pastey goop kinda of thing, like toothpaste consistency that you would use in conjunction with honda MTF. or does it replace the MTF completely?

no its just tranny fluid. you remove all the old tranny fluid, and put the GM synchromesh friction modified tranny fluid in.

yeah, i can't wait to put it in my tranny. thats when i get the car started. hopefully i will notice no grinds and i can just think that i got the most perfect tranny ever. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

No, like he said, it's tranny fluid. You replace your Honda MTF with the Synchromesh.

Synchromesh actually has a thinner consistency than most other tranny fluids I have seen.

Syncromesh Friction Modified works:
Put it in my d16-Y8

cured that nasty reverse crunching grind, no need to put it in 1st gear first anymore before you reverse it.

Shifting feels a bit slicker all over too.
