Its really bothering me because I need the engine code. I have never heard or seen a SOHC d16 vtec engine in a "JdM" 88-91 year model Civic EF9/EE9
Unless its from a 92-95 civic.
Only d16 out there for out year car are:
D16A6
D16A7
D16Z2
D16Z5
D16A8
D16A9
D16Z5/A8/ &A9 are out of the question because they are DOHC.
Plus they came in EE9 and are not JDM
A6 came in the US car and it not vtec so that rules that one out
A7 and Z2 both also came in European model cars and are non vtec as well.
Which leaves no other motor
Only thing I remember that came in the "JDM" model Civics were
D13B, D15B, ZC, B16A

Either way, the JDM 1.6 SOHC VTEC will have no differences from the USDM motors that are noticeable, unless they stuck the dual carb on the VTEC variants, I've only seen those on the non-VTEC models.
