how does your CRX handle in the snow?

This is my first winter with a CRX, and I must say it handles like poo. slides everywhere, and wont grip the road. (snow covered.) Fun indeed, safe it's not. http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmilep.gif

I was just curious if everyone has this problem... if not I guess my tires are trash.
input appreciated.

eh I've actually heard they handle pretty good. Maybe ya gotta have really good tires or snow tires, but my hatch slides all over the place and i've got new tires on it. Not really good tires, but new ordinary tires you'd buy as replacment at any tire place.

Still fun none the less. I only wish my ebrake worked, but thats another story.

*My sister did a complete 360 in the middle of Route 8 (3 lane highway). Came within feet of hitting a concrete barrier and other traffic. She definately had a guardian angel watching over her that day. I dunno if it was her mistake or not but be careful out there. Creep

the rex is my beater http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emwink.gif the lude is in the garage http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emthup.gif

i think it can mostly be attributed to the light weight.

been snowing here. I dont have snowtires and i spin like a MOTHA. I havent slid too too much, only when i hit black ice or thick snow patches. But yea, it will slide a little and spin. Maybe with some good snow tires it would be aight, but im plannin on puttin it away for the winter and gettin a beater! http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmile.gif

back in 93 my aunt had a 91 crx si (how i came to love them) and it was the winter time..car was practically brand new and hit some black ice coming down a hill with a sharp corner and nailed a tree...that ended that crx's life at a young age http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsad.gif . so...i would be careful fellas...i have an old cougar as my beater...rear wheel drive...its sooo fun...i dont care about it one bit so if i crash...more power to me...

i drived my car in the snow for two year, it's a hatch though, but since she got a new skin, I wont take it out in winter.
get some good tire, like the Nut shell ---> toyo, or if you got a little more money get some Nokia, they grip like crazy 1!! even on the ice they are genial.
but with crapy 4 season tire, your car will swing everywhere, won't stop either. etc etc. winter is funny don't you think ???

This is why I just bought a POS 89 civic DX.

NO power + good snow tires = traction http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emwink.gif

I got tired of driving a 200hp ZC with a 6 puck clutch in the snow.... http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emcrook.gif

Re: how does your CRX handle in the snow? (BrewCityR)

both the crxs and the 4th gen civics are about the same in the snow, the civics being a little better. Both are fine in town, and at speeds below 40 miles/hr or so. Above that speed, on the highway if you are in snow, and you cross one of those ridges of snow, in the center of your lane, prepare for it to set you into a spin, cause they will, even the slushy ones. Thats why wide ass snow tires are not very good for on snow either, cause they will float on top, like any other tire. Our stock rims are the perfect size.

The key to living through the winter, is to not be cheap, and get 4 snows, doesn't matter if they are walmart specials, just get them. If you say you can't afford them, than you shouldn't be driving...lol. No flaming, cause a crashed car is a hell of a lot more expensive than $150 for some tires, its a fact of life, if you get regular snow, get snow tires.

Don't drive aggresive in snow, relax take it easy, especially if your goofing around.

You suckers should try driving your CRX's in a cold cold snowy Manitoba, Canada winter. Let me tell you, i have nice nice winter tires on there, almost truck spec and it still sucks ass. Doesn't accelerate or stop worth a shit. Slidding everywhere.
