Icon6 how-to add a footrest / dead pedal into a civic or crx PICS

here's a little how-to... im sure there are other ways to attach the foot rest on but i wanted a permanent oem-like solution.

anyway i been driving my civic more then my crx and i really miss having a footrest...

my civic did not come with a footrest but my crx did. so I was curious if I could put one on the civic, so I pulled the carpet aside on my civic and compared it with my crx and its identical! but its missing those 2 bolt studs.

I drilled 2 holes (between the dimples) and put in 2 bolt heads into it, the fit is snug. I then put 2 spot welds on each bolt head. The top hole goes into the wheel well (you can see light thru the hole, in the first pic below) so after I did the spot welds, I smeared silicon sealant over bolt heads to keep it sealed. the firewall/carpet padding had a perfect outline of a cutout for the footrest too. also made small incisions on the carpet for the studs, bolt it up and done.

enjoy

How do you get to the bolts? remove the rubber lining?

Try to read what the OP wrote and view his pictures carefully before asking stupid questions.

I know the EG's, only the Si hatches had a footrest, I have one in my current Si, it must be an upper model thing, like tilt steering.

I know the STDs do not have them. The Dx might... i will check soon.

I always wanted one of these though... Now I have to track down an oem footrest!

lol. I'm pretty sure tilt steering was mandatory for all models here.

Got rid of my crx, and now have a sedan. I really miss my foot rest.
