Help me see my dying grandmother.
The title is accurate.
I have to make an emergency 700 mile round trip and my options are to take my motorcycle or take my c-rex. I cannot leave until Sunday unfortunately. My bike is not a cruiser, but I've taken longer trips... though none in the dead of winter..... Here is my concern. Yesterday on my way to work I pushed in the clutch and felt something hit my foot. I found a spring which I found to be honda part # 46540-SH5-010 .. SPRING ASSY., PEDAL RETURN for the clutch pedal. It just broke off. I am used to these things happening as my car has 289k hard miles on it. Normally I wouldn't worry about this, but due to the trip I have to ask if it is safe to drive without it. The only difference I can feel so far is that there is a reduced pressure on the clutch pedal. The clutch was replaced about 70k ago, but I cannot remember if it got a new pressure plate. So my main question is whether I can/should risk this trip without this spring? Thank you so much for your help. |
Re: Help me see my dying grandmother.
just install a comparable spring interim. get yourself a replacement online.

Re: Help me see my dying grandmother.
I'm pretty sure you'll be fine, but I'd try and buy a replacement before you go. its not that cold in GA, but 45* at 80mph on a bike would suck. do what you gotta do to get the spring.

Re: Help me see my dying grandmother.
I have no spring for the brake, clutch, or gas pedal cause some previous owner moron decided to remove them.

Re: Help me see my dying grandmother.
Hmm... what if you adjusted the clutch pedal so it engaged further in as a precautionary measure if you can't find the spring? ... or, could you attach some sort of other spring to work until then? IDK, find something at a hardware store that can serve a similar purpose?
